One of the great things about football is its ability to unite fans from all kinds of different backgrounds through a mutual love of the beautiful game.

Celebrities and other high-profile figures might enjoy fame and fortune, but many of them are just as passionate as the rest of us about their favourite team.

Having millions in the bank must be a fantastic feeling. However, it probably doesn't do all that much to comfort you immediately after your team loses a crucial match.

Recently, the folks over at FourFourTwo decided to take a look at the Premier League line-up for the 2022/23 season and name each team's most famous fan.

According to their article, they were determined to only select celebrities "who actually attend games and screams at the telly, not just an A-list actor who was presented with a shirt once".

With that in mind, let's dive into their choices below.

Every Premier League club's most famous supporters (as named by FourFourTwo)

Arsenal - Idris Elba

Aston Villa - Prince William

Bournemouth - Alex James (Blur bassist)

Brentford - Hard Fi's Richard Archer and The Bluetones' Adam Devlin

Brighton - Fatboy Slim

The countdown kicks off with British actor Elba who - while launching an Arsenal kit in 2019/20 - claimed he could have played for the Gunners as a youngster.

Aston Villa are famously backed by royalty, counting Prince William among their biggest celebrity fans.

Bournemouth, Brentford and Brighton's famous fans all come from the world of music - with Seagulls supporter Norman 'Fatboy Slim' Cook being the most notable of the bunch.

Chelsea - Michael Caine

Crystal Palace - Bill Nighy

Everton - Dame Judi Dench

Fulham - Margot Robbie

Leeds - Russell Crowe

Five names famed for their accomplishments in the acting field here.

Not only is Dame Judi a big Everton fan, but she also works alongside the club as patron of its official charity - Everton in the Community.

After making several trips to Craven Cottage over the past few years, Hollywood superstar Robbie picks up the title of Fulham's most high-profile supporter.

A noted fan of the Whites for several decades, Australian actor Crowe accepted the invitation to narrate Leeds' 'Take Us Home' Amazon Prime documentary.

Leicester - Gary Lineker

Liverpool - Daniel Craig

Manchester City - Liam and Noel Gallagher

Manchester United - Stormzy

Newcastle - Ant and Dec

Lineker's passion for Leicester is no secret. The Match Of The Day host was part of a consortium interested in buying the club back in 2002. He even gave up his role as host of BT Sports' Champions League coverage last year in order to follow the Foxes in the Europa League alongside his sons.

Former James Bond actor Craig gets the nod as Liverpool's most enthusiastic celebrity fan for his genuinely starstruck reaction to meeting Mo Salah and Sadio Mane on one of his several visits to the Anfield dressing room.

The Gallagher brothers may not be on great terms with one another, but their love for Man City is undeniable.

Stormzy is slotted in as the Red Devils' most famous supporter, in part because he helped the club unveil Paul Pogba after he re-signed for United in 2016. That deal didn't exactly go to plan, but the grime superstar will be hoping that the future at Old Trafford is brighter under new boss Erik ten Hag.

Britain's Got Talent hosts Ant and Dec were among the thousands of smiling faces at Newcastle's final home game of the season and are frequent visitors to St. James' Park.

Nottingham Forest - Carl Froch

Southampton - Craig David

Tottenham - Adele

West Ham - James Corden

Wolves - Robert Plant (Lead singer, Led Zeppelin)

Adele's rendition of 'Glory Glory Tottenham Hotspur' hasn't gone down quite as well around the world as some of her biggest hits. That said, she'll always be welcome any time she fancies making an appearance at a Spurs home game.

Across London, Corden is such a big West Ham fan that he made sure that his character in Gavin and Stacey, 'Smithy', was also a lifelong Hammer.

FourFourTwo didn't like the idea of upsetting former four-time super-middleweight world champion Froch - and so made sure he was crowned the biggest celebrity fan of newly-promoted Nottingham Forest.
