Carlos Tevez, Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney could well be the most fearsome front three that the Premier League has ever seen. The 2007/08 and 2008/09 seasons saw Manchester United's forward line occupied by the three superstars, who helped Sir Alex Ferguson's side to plunder pretty much ever trophy before them.During that golden two-year period, the Red Devils helped themselves to two Premier League titles, the Champions League, FIFA Club World Cup, League Cup and Community Shield.

Tevez, Ronaldo and Rooney

The only downside is that narrowest of windows where Tevez, Ronaldo and Rooney shared the pitch was over so quickly with the triumvirate completely dismantled in the summer of 2009.

With Tevez controversially moving on to Manchester City and Ronaldo completing a world-record transfer to Real Madrid, Rooney was left twiddling his thumbs as the sole survivor at Old Trafford.

And if anything, Tevez really was the tentpole of that trio because it was his arrival from West Ham United in 2007 that lifted the already-blossoming relationship between Ronaldo and Rooney to new heights.

It was his dogged work rate and desire to get back and defend that ensured United weren't playing with an indulgently cutoff front line such as Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe and Neymar this season.

And while that dynamic might have flourished across two campaigns, it was their debut year in 2007/08 where they truly put forward their case as one of the Premier League's greatest ever trios.

Tevez finished the season with 14 goals and six assists in the Premier League, Rooney amassed 12 goals and 10 assists and Rooney racked up 31 goals and six assists. Bonkers.

So, in light of the football world toasting Tevez upon his retirement this week, let's sit back and enjoy one of the finest seasons of his career by watching him tear it up with Ronaldo and Rooney in 2007/08 down below:

What a trio.

United fans know all-too well how much of a joy it was to watch the quality, energy and flair that came with every performance where Rooney, Ronaldo and Tevez were leading the club's charge.

And while the 2008/09 season might not have been quite so prolific for United's front three, you can rest assured that they still produced some stunning moments, so be sure to check out their overall highlights below too:

Now, Ronaldo is the only one of the three to still play professional football.

And given that he's back at United having endured the club's worst ever season in the Premier League, you can't help thinking that he secretly wishes he had Tevez and Rooney there with him now.
