Tottenham Hotspur target Gleison Bremer is an ‘incredible defender’ and will ‘obviously leave Torino this year’, according to Italian football expert Conor Clancy.

Spurs have been credited with an interest in the highly-rated 25-year-old as manager Antonio Conte targets further additions to his backline this summer.

What is the latest news involving Bremer?

According to a recent report in The Telegraph, Tottenham’s hierarchy will look to appease Conte by handing him six new signings following some turbulent moments in his brief tenure.

It’s claimed that Bremer is amongst the potential targets identified by director of football Fabio Paratici, along with fellow centre-back Alessandro Bastoni of Inter. However, the latter looks set to stay in Serie A following an announcement from his agent on Wednesday.

The report comes after The Athletic claimed signing a natural left-sided central defender was the top priority for the north London outfit ahead of next summer as full-back Ban Davies has been filling in there since Conte’s arrival.

And Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has provided an update on Tottenham’s search for reinforcements in the heart of defence.

Gold has disclosed that Spurs want to sign two players in that position this summer and top targets Bastoni and RB Leipzig’s Josko Gvardiol are both believed to be happy at their current clubs, making any potential deals difficult to conclude.

What has Clancy said about Bremer?

Bremer is said to be available for just £21 million despite having two years remaining on his contract, although Inter are said to be favourites for his signature.

And Clancy is clearly a fan of the Brazilian, stating the reason he has been ‘linked with everyone’ is because he is ‘brilliant’.

He told GiveMeSport: “He's an incredible defender, and he'll obviously leave Torino this year. In Italy, he has been linked with Inter; he’s been linked with everyone. And there's a reason for that; it's because he's brilliant.”

How good is Bremer?

The fact that Bremer is right-footed means he will not provide the natural balance to Tottenham’s centre-back unit that Conte is desperately searching for.

However, the 6 foot 2 has showcased his top-class potential over the last couple of campaigns, excelling for a Torino side treading water in the middle of the Serie A standings.

As per FBref, Bremer has ranked in the 99th percentile for aerial duels won, the 99th for blocks, 98th for pressures, 98th for interceptions and 96th for clearances compared to his positional peers over the last 365 days.

He is also a threat from set-pieces, finding the back of the net on 13 occasions in his 110 appearances for the Bulls, and would surely be warmly welcomed by the Spurs faithful should he arrive at the club.

Bremer vs Dusan Vlahovic

Dusan Vlahovic has become a well-known name in European football over the past few years, having secured a big move to Juventus in January after scoring 49 goals in 108 outings for Fiorentina.

One of Vlahovic's first appearances for Juventus was against Torino, but the 22-year-old failed to get on the scoresheet and was eventually hauled off after 74 minutes, in no small part thanks to Bremer keeping the striker wedged in his back pocket.
