Arsenal will still be in the mix to sign Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans this summer, claims journalist Pete O'Rourke.

The north London club missed out on Champions League qualification on the last day of the season, but O'Rourke does not think that has ended their chances of landing the 25-year-old.

What is the latest news involving Tielemans?

According to the Daily Mirror, Arsenal are on the lookout for a midfielder and are confident that they can complete a deal for Tielemans.

The same outlet also states that the Gunners are hoping to seal a bargain by offering Leicester around £25m for their midfielder.

Tielemans, who cost the Foxes £40m, only has one year left on his contract, so it may be an offer that they have to accept.

In the 2021/22 season, he made 50 appearances in all competitions, showing his importance to Brendan Rodgers' side. However, it looks like they may now have to start preparing for life without him.

What has O'Rourke said about Tielemans to Arsenal?

While O'Rourke thinks interest from Champions League clubs could complicate things, he still reckons that Arsenal have a good chance of signing Tielemans in the transfer window.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, the journalist said: "I think he could be a good fit for Arsenal, somebody in that midfield who can get forward and score goals and add a bit more creativity into the centre of midfield.

"So I think Arsenal, although missing out on the Champions League will be a blow to their chances of landing Tielemans if other clubs can offer the Belgian that luxury, I still think they'll be right in the mix for him."

Would Arsenal signing Tielemans be one of the deals of the summer?

If they get him for £25m, then absolutely. He is a midfielder who brings a lot of attacking threat, so he could be a very good capture for Arsenal.

As per FBref, he has ranked in the 94th percentile for total shots, 85th for shot-creating actions and 88th for progressive passes among his positional peers over the last year.

Ultimately, if Mikel Arteta is looking to add a more offensive central midfielder to his side this summer, then Tielemans, described as "outstanding" by Rodgers, could be his man.

Former Tottenham striker and Arsenal fan Darren Bent also thinks he would fit in nicely at the Emirates.

"If he was to leave, I would like him to come to Arsenal. I really like him, Youri Tielemans," Bent said on talkSPORT (via Daily Mirror). “I think he is a very good player, he starts in that Belgium team as well. He has got good quality to him. I think he fits in at Arsenal nicely, I really do.”

All in all, Tielemans to Arsenal could be a good deal for the Gunners and one that does not look impossible to pull off.
