Austria vs Denmark in the Nations League was a bizarre match.Denmark beat Ralf Rangnick's Austria 2-1 in Vienna in a match that was delayed due to a power outage. As a result, fans attempted to light the stadium with their mobile phones and performed a Mexican wave with their devices.

When the match eventually kicked off, Tottenham's Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg opened the scoring after half an hour for the away side.

Austria equalised with a little more than 20 minutes remaining after Xaver Schlager capitalised on Kasper Schmeichel's poor pass.

However, with five minutes remaining Jens Stryger Larsen curled a beautiful winner from outside the box to hand Denmark all three points.

But the weirdness resumed at the final whistle.

That's because a huge mysterious sinkhole appeared on the pitch after the final whistle. As the players were leaving the pitch, the hole in the middle of the pitch emerged.

The Danish players seemed very intrigued and Skov Olsen even put his leg in there - rather him than us!

A power outage and a huge hole appearing in the pitch... what is happening?

Well, one Reddit user appeared to have a reasonable explanation for the hole.

"One of the main drainage lines would have been damaged. Which means all of the water from the pitch would have been flowing into one area pooling and eroding the drainage gravel, or the pitch may be on a steel frame, the base might have given way and then it became a pit hole for all the moisture as well."

Make sense and is a little less scary...
