50) Name: Sara Björk Gunnarsdóttir
Nationality: Iceland
Position: Midfielder

Sara Björk Gunnarsdóttir, who currently plays for women’s football giants Lyon, will be playing at her fourth Euros. In total, the 31-year-old has made 138 appearances for Iceland, scoring 22 goals.

She is set to play at Euro 2022 just eight months after giving birth to her first child. Her return to football has been highly successful so far – Gunnarsdóttir was part of the Lyon side which defeated Barcelona 3-1 in the Women’s Champions League Final.

Gunnarsdóttir has said she wants to prove the "universal truth that, as women and mothers, you do not have to choose between having a family and your career. You can do both."

49) Name: Justine Vanhaevermaet
Nationality: Belgium
Position: Midfielder

Justine Vanhaevermaet will be familiar to regular viewers of the Women’s Super League. The 30-year-old made 19 appearances for Reading this season, hitting the back of the net twice.

She has been a crucial player for Belgium in the country’s qualifying campaign for the 2023 Women’s World Cup, popping up with goals against Kosovo and Armenia last year.

Vanhaevermaet will make her debut at the Euros this summer, having sat out Euro 2017 with an ACL injury.

Nationality: Italy
Position: Midfielder

Aurora Galli became the first Italian player to join the WSL when she signed for Everton in 2021. She joined from Juventus, where she won Serie A an impressive four times.

The 25-year-old played at Euro 2017 but struggled to inspire her team as they finished bottom of their group. Galli will be hoping to help Italy to a better showing this time around.

There is no doubt that Marie-Antoinette Katoto is one of the most talented strikers in the world. She scored 18 goals for PSG in the D1 Féminine this season, the highest in the league.

The 23-year-old has just a remarkable record for France, hitting the back of the net 24 times in 28 appearances. She will aim to continue her stunning form this summer.

Nationality: Portugal
Position: Forward

The 31-year-old Ana Borges played for Atlético Madrid and Chelsea before joining Sporting CP in 2017.

She is a crucial player for her country, having made 141 appearances for Portugal so far. The versatile winger’s experience will be key as her side embark on last-minute preparations for Euro 2022.

Nationality: Switzerland
Position: Forward/Defender

Ana-Maria Crnogorčević plays as either a winger or right wing-back for Barcelona, but is more often used as an attacker when playing for Switzerland. As a result, the 31-year-old is her country’s all-time top goalscorer with 61 goals.

Crnogorčević is used to winning – during an illustrious club career, she has earned Champions League titles with FFC Frankfurt and Barcelona.

Position: Forward/Defender

Another versatile player to look out for. Fridolina Rolfö plays as a winger but has been transformed into an attacking full-back for domestic club Barcelona.

The 28-year-old helped Sweden to an Olympic silver medal last summer, scoring three goals in five matches at Tokyo 2020. She will be hoping to find her shooting boots again as her country targets a second Euros title.

Nationality: Netherlands
Position: Midfielder

Sherida Spitse, the Netherlands’ most capped footballer of all-time with 199 appearances, is set to feature at her fourth Euros this summer.

The 32-year-old played in every match as her country triumphed at Euro 2017, earning her a place in the UEFA Team of the Tournament.

Spitse missed the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games with a knee injury, but has returned to the national team set-up as the Netherlands look to defend their title this summer.
