A rematch between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano is not set to be on the cards any time soon, Eddie Hearn has claimed.

After the two women made history at Madison Square Garden in April, a lot of excitement started to build over a potential second bout between the two boxing icons.

However, Taylor's promoter Hearn of Matchroom Boxing has revealed it is not something the Serrano camp seems to be interested in.

The rumoured rematch was expected to take place on Taylor's home soil at Croke Park in Ireland but now any plans in place have been scuppered as Serrano and her team have not entertained the idea.

"They don’t want that fight, unfortunately," Hearn told Pro Boxing Fans. "I mean, we’ve spoken to Jake Paul’s team and they don’t really want to go to Ireland. They don’t really want the rematch.

"It's kind of like, regardless of the offer, we don’t want to do the rematch."

The two made women's boxing history in New York when they became the first female fighters to headline the famous Madison Square Garden.

The arena hosted a sell-out crowd for the historic clash and Taylor came out on top after a thrilling battle between the two women.

After a tough test inside the ring, The Bray Bomber extended her unbeaten streak to 21 wins from as many matches and retained her WBC, WBA, IBF and WBO lightweight titles.

As well as marking a major milestone for women in boxing, Taylor and Serrano earned a handsome seven-figure payday for their iconic fight.

While Hearn believes there is potential for a rematch between his client and the Puerto Rican star in the future, fans won't be seeing the two face off again and time soon.

"I think they [Serrano's team] want to go away and build some confidence and get a win in August and maybe we can look at it next year," Hearn said.

"It’s very disappointing, because I love that fight. I think it’s a great fight and such a close fight. It doesn’t look like it’s a fight that unfortunately Amanda Serrano wants."

However, talks could still be underway to pencil in an upcoming fight for Taylor. The undisputed lightweight champion could be set to face MMA's finest in either Cris Cyborg or Holly Holm.
