Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is a big fan of Chelsea forward Christian Pulisic, claims transfer insider Dean Jones.

Pulisic may have struggled to live up to expectations at Stamford Bridge, but Jones still thinks that Klopp appreciates his skillset.

What's the latest news involving Pulisic?

The winger was limited to just 13 starts in the Premier League last term, with Thomas Tuchel often preferring the likes of Mason Mount, Kai Havertz and Timo Werner in his 3-4-3 system.

He hasn't got a regular look-in at Chelsea recently, but things could be different at Anfield.

With Sadio Mane strongly linked with a move away from the Merseyside club this summer, Pulisic has emerged as a potential replacement for the Senegalese forward, as reported by talkSPORT.

What has Jones said about Pulisic potentially joining Liverpool?

Jones has claimed that Liverpool wanted to sign Pulisic back in 2019 before his £58m move to Chelsea.

Now, he has hinted that the American could be interested in a switch to Klopp's team as he is not happy with his lack of game-time under Tuchel, although it would have to be after Darwin Nunez with the Reds on the verge of signing the Uruguay international.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, Jones said: "This is the move that was mooted before he went to Chelsea, everybody was expecting him to land at Liverpool with Jurgen Klopp. He is a big admirer of his, understands his game. I think personally, it would be a great move for Pulisic at this point, because he’s definitely frustrated with the way things are going at Chelsea.”

Would Pulisic be a good replacement for Mane at Liverpool?

Replacing Mane looks set to be a thankless task for whoever gets given that role. He has scored 67 goals in his last four Premier League campaigns, which is a remarkable record for a player who has often played on the left flank during this period.

By contrast, Pulisic has only scored 19 league goals in his three seasons at Chelsea, and the west London club have been unable to unlock his full potential.

Having said that, Klopp may relish the opportunity to try to get the best out of Pulisic.

When Mane and Mohamed Salah arrived at Liverpool, neither of them were superstars by any means, but Klopp has helped them reach the next level, and they are now considered two of the finest players on the planet.

Pulisic is still only 23, and has time on his side to get things right. He certainly has plenty of talent, and Klopp could be the man to ensure that his ability does not go to waste.
