Philadelphia Eagles defensive tackle Jordan Davis has been talking about the weight that he has lost this summer.

The Philadelphia Eagles were one of the busiest teams when it came to the 2022 NFL Draft, not only did they take care of their own business when it came to the first round, not only did they pick up Jordan Davis from the University of Georgia with the 13th overall pick, they also traded their rights to the #18 pick to grab A.J Brown from the Tennessee Titans

And whilst Brown might be getting most of the headlines as a wide receiver, there is every chance that Davis could end up becoming someone very important for the Eagles in the coming years.

The Eagles did pretty well in stopping the run last year, ranking joint 9th in the league giving up 1,834 yards, but with Hassan Ridgeway having departed for the San Francisco 49ers, the Eagles needed someone to plug the middle of the defensive line alongside Fletcher Cox.

Davis is a pretty big plug

Davis is a man who could fill pretty much any hole in any line if you asked him to with his tremendous stature, standing at 6’6 and weighing 340lbs when he took part in the NFL Combine back in March, something that leaves his fellow lineman in his shadows.

And that size helped him wreak havoc with offensive lineman during his days with the Georgia Bulldogs, as he put up a total of 90 tackles, 11.5 of which were for loss and sacks in college.

However according to him, he’s in the process of getting slightly leaner ahead of his debut in the NFL.

What’s he doing?

The 22-year-old recently spoke to NBC Sports in Philadelphia explaining what he was doing to get down from the 345lbs he started training camp with in order to get down into the 330s in time for when the season begins, and part of that comes down to simply eating less than he did when he was younger:

“I think I look a little bit slimmer. I look in the mirror and I’m like, man, I’m getting toned. My arm muscles are looking good. My mom says I’m slimming down. My face is getting slimmer. I think that’s just the continuous work. It’s every day, it’s something. It’s just work.“We put in that work, it’s obviously just gonna fall off. And just keeping in mind, I’m getting paid to do what I do. I’m getting paid to be at my peak. Just working down and cutting down. You can’t just go out and eat everything in the world. You have to have everything in moderation.”

Whether or not this ends up helping or hindering his play in the NFL, we’ll just have to wait and see, you just have to hope he isn’t taking away what made him so good to begin with.
