Celtic are on the road this summer, here's everything you need to know about their pre-season ahead of the 2022/23 season.

Celtic can mark their 2021/22 campaign down as a great success as they were crowned champions of Scotland for a remarkable 52nd time, beating bitter rivals Rangers to the title by a deficit of four points, gaining bragging rights in the capital of Glasgow.

They also featured in the new European competition, the Europa Conference League - but unfortunately for them fell at the round of 32 to Norwegian side Bodo/Glimt, who were defeated by eventual champions AS Roma in the quarter-finals.

Celtic will be using these pre-season games to prepare for the new campaign, and they could prove vital in seeing what areas they need to improve, or to potentially showcase some new faces.

Fixtures & Results

Celtic lift a trophy

Celtic 7 - 0 SC Wiener Viktoria

When? – Wednesday 6th July 2022
Where? – Sportplatz Wiener Viktoria, Vienna, Austria
Time? – 5:30 PM GMT

Celtic started off their pre-season with a 7-0 rout against SC Wiener Viktoria. A tremendous start for the Hoops in Austria.

Goals from Johnny Kenny (x2), Reo Hatate, Michael Johnston, Christopher Jullien, James Forest and Rocco Vata secured the win.


Celtic 3 - 3 Rapid Vienna

When? – Saturday 9th July 2022
Where? – Allianz Stadium, Vienna, Austria
Time? – 5 PM GMT

They then faced Austrian footballing giants Rapid Vienna where they were held to a 3-3 draw.

A to-and-fro affair which saw the Austrian side nick a last-minute equaliser after goals from Matthew O'Riley, David Turnbull and Kyogo Furuhashi.


Celtic 4 - 2 Banik Ostrava

  • When? – Wednesday 13th July 2022
  • Where? – Mestsky Stadion, Ostrava, Czech Republic
  • Time? – 5 PM GMT

Celtic then travelled from Austria to the Czech Republic to face Banik Ostrava.

The Hoops played the Czech first division side after being invited to celebrate the club’s centenary year, in a specially-arranged anniversary match.

The match finished 4-2 to Celtic, with the goalscorers being Kyogo Furahashi, Matthew O'Riley, Georgios Giakoumakis and Liel Abada.

Celtic 2 - 2 Blackburn Rovers

When? – Saturday 16th July 2022
Where? – Celtic Park, Glasgow
Time? – 12:30 PM GMT

Celtic then returned to Glasgow just three days later to face English Championship side - Blackburn Rovers.

The game ended in a 2-2 draw, with goals coming from Jota and David Turnbull for the Hoops.


Celtic 2 - 2 Legia Warsaw

When? – Wednesday 20th July 2022
Where? – Stadion Wojska Polskiego, Warsaw, Poland
Time? – 5:00 PM GMT

A trip to Warsaw also ended with a 2-2 draw for Celtic. Reo Hatate and Daizen Maeda this time on target.


Celtic 2 - 0 Norwich City

When? – Saturday 23rd July 2022
Where? – Celtic Park, Glasgow
Time? – 3:00 PM GMT

Celtic concluded their pre-season tour with a comfortable win back on home soil against Norwich. Daizen Maeda struck first to make it two in two for him. Then David Turnbull got to other to end the tour on a high.

Celtic now face Aberdeen on the opening day of the season on the 31st of July 2022.


Pre Season Training

Celtic will also be taking part in a 10 day training camp in Austria, sometime at the beginning of July - with the official date still to be confirmed.

This will be a period before the already confirmed fixtures and it is thought that they will arrange some more games against Austrian sides during this time period.
