Chelsea Women have announced the signing of French defender Ève Perisset.
The 27-year-old joins the Blues from Division 1 Féminine side Bordeaux on a three-year deal.
It is Chelsea’s first signing since Todd Boehly replaced Roman Abramovich as owner and the UK Government sanctions on the club were lifted.
The Blues had been unable to sign new players since March after Abramovich was sanctioned in the wake of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Perisset, the first female French player to sign for Chelsea, will help the side chase its fourth successive Women’s Super League title next season.
“It’s a fantastic honour to join Chelsea and to be the first French female player to become a Blue,” she said. “I am very thankful for the opportunity that has been given to me.
“The time was right for me to make this big move to London and join the English Super League and I cannot wait to meet the team and the fans later this summer at Kingsmeadow and at the famous Stamford Bridge!”

Who is Ève Perisset?
Perisset is a versatile defender who started her professional career at Lyon, playing for the side from 2012 to 2016.
During her time at the club she won the D1 Féminine and Coupe de France Féminine four times, and earned a Women’s Champions League winners medal in 2016.
She then moved across to Paris St Germain, winning the Coupe de France Féminine for a fifth time.
In 2020, Perisset completed a transfer to Bordeaux, where she played as a full-back and in midfield. In total, the star racked up more than 125 appearances in the D1 Féminine during her career.
Does Ève Perisset have international experience?
Perisset has an abundance of international experience, making 34 appearances for France so far.
After making her senior debut in 2016, she has played at Euro 2017 and the 2019 Women’s World Cup.
Perisset has been named in France’s squad for Euro 2022 and will subsequently have a chance to play in England – her new home – this summer.
What will Ève Perisset bring to Chelsea?
Chelsea boss Emma Hayes has claimed Perisset will bring a “wealth of experience” to her side. She also highlighted her ability to play as a defender or midfielder as an asset.
“A tenacious defender, with her mentality and professionalism we have no doubt she will complement the group well,” Hayes said.
“We really look forward to welcoming Eve to the team later this summer as we head into the new season.”
Périsset has also played Women’s Champions League football for nine consecutive seasons with Lyon, PSG and Bordeaux. She will be a crucial member of the team as Chelsea chase an elusive European title.
