Claressa Shields has started training with UFC legend Henry Cejudo to become a “better” MMA fighter. The former UFC flyweight and bantamweight champion welcomed Shields to his 'Fight Ready' gym in Arizona. The pair spent two hours training together, with the American boxer sharing a photo of the session on Twitter.“Great 2 hours with Triple C @HenryCejudo,” Shields wrote. “Learned a lot! Just 2 olympic champs working! #GWOAT #tripleC #henrycejudo #mma”In turn, Cejudo shared a clip on Instagram of him coaching Shields with the caption: "Just two Olympic and world champions Goating around today. Maaahhhh."Shields announced she would be training with Cejudo last month, shortly after hinting she would return to MMA after her highly-anticipated bout against Savannah Marshall was pushed back to September."I am going to go to train with Henry Cejudo in Arizona and spend some time there," Shields told Mirror Fighting. "I'll get him to improve my wrestling and jiu-jitsu skills. Just becoming a better MMA fighter, there are a few things I want to sharpen up on."Somebody asked me 'if you had to create the perfect fighter, who would you create?' Of course I'd keep myself, but I would add Cejudo, Kamaru Usman, Jon Jones and Holly Holm."All of them have good attributes, but Cejudo is great. He's a two-weight UFC champion and Olympic champion in wrestling. He mastered MMA so who better to work with than him?"

The 27-year-old, who currently holds the WBC, WBA and IBF middleweight titles, launched her MMA career in 2020 by signing a three-year contract with PFL.

Shields won her first contest against Brittney Elkin last year, but lost the second against Abigail Montes via split decision.

She has since focused on her boxing career, successfully defending her middleweight belts against Ema Kozin in February, but has been frustrated by the delay to her fight against Marshall.

The duo have ramped up the rivalry in recent months, with Shields accusing Marshall of faking the arm injury which pushed their encounter back to September.

She has fought the WBO middleweight champion once before, losing to the British star at the Women’s World Boxing Championships in 2012.

As a result, Marshall is the only competitor to beat Shields at any level in boxing so far.
