Cody Rhodes suffered a brutal torn pectoral muscle last week, days before his match at WWE Hell in a Cell.

During a weight training session the week of the show, Cody completely tore his right pec, but still insisted on wrestling at Hell in a Cell.

His cell match with Seth Rollins only went ahead, according to reports, because Cody was so badly injured.

You can read more about it by clicking here, but the report explains that the feeling was that Cody was so badly hurt that he couldn't do any more damage to his injury by having the match.

Cody had a huge bruise on his arm and chest on Sunday night as a result of the injury, and now he's shown off how that bruise progressed.

Taking to Instagram, Cody showed off a series of photos, showing his bruise getting worse and worse as the week went on.

You can see the images below, which if we're being honest, are absolutely brutal.

Cody even shared an update of how the bruise looks now, and somehow, it looks even worse than it did on Sunday night, as you can see below.

Rhodes opened up Monday Night Raw this week with a promo segment, where it was announced by commentary that he's set to undergo surgery tomorrow.

Surgery for a torn pec likely needs between four and six months of recovery, so Cody not wrestling again until 2023 isn't totally out of the question.

However, he seemed to suggest that he could actually be back for Money in the Bank next month, which based on the timelines and severity of the injury, seems almost impossible.
