Liverpool target Raphinha has already made his mind up over where he wants to play next season, believes Daily Star journalist Paul Brown.

While Brown thinks the Leeds United winger would be a good fit for Jurgen Klopp's side, he feels it may now be too late for the Reds to convince him to join them over Barcelona.

What is the latest news involving Raphinha?

According to SPORT, Raphinha wants to move to Barcelona instead of Liverpool this summer.

In fact, the Spanish outlet claims that the 25-year-old is prioritising the La Liga outfit over the many clubs who have registered an interest in him.

It will come as a blow to Klopp, with SPORT alleging that the German has specifically asked for him as he prepares for the potential departure of Sadio Mane to Bayern Munich.

Whether Barcelona can actually afford Raphinha, though, remains to be seen. As per The Athletic, the Brazil international could cost as much as £70m this transfer window.

What has Brown said about Raphinha to Liverpool?

Brown thinks it is a shame that Liverpool look likely to miss out on Raphinha because he could be perfect for Klopp's set-up.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, the Daily Star journalist said: "He seems like a good fit and a player who would fit into their system quite well, but I think he's already made his mind up over where he's going to go, and it might be too late for Liverpool to try and flip that one around."

What next for Liverpool?

If Barcelona fail to sign Raphinha, then perhaps Liverpool will make a serious move in the near future if they are not already planning to. For now, though, it looks like they are putting all of their efforts into landing Benfica striker Darwin Nunez.

Multiple outlets are reporting that Liverpool want to bring in the Uruguay international this summer.

According to Sky Sports, he is actually their No.1 target and is eager to join up with Klopp's men. Rivals Manchester United are also thought to be interested in him.

In the 2021/22 season, Nunez scored an incredible 34 goals and showed Liverpool what he can do after netting twice against them in the Champions League.

Overall, it was a solid campaign in Europe's elite competition for the 22-year-old, who registered six times in 10 outings.

While Raphinha would be a good signing for Liverpool following his success in England, you suspect that Reds fans would settle for Nunez.
