Roman Reigns will not be part of the Money in the Bank premium live event next month, according to a new report.

Earlier this month Money in the Bank was moved from the Allegiant Stadium to the smaller MGM Grand Arena venue in Las Vegas and Roman Reigns was removed from the promotional poster from the event. Leaving a question mark whether he’d be part of the show.

Some reports had stated that the original plan was for Reigns to defend his WWE Universal Championship at Money in the Bank against Riddle. A storyline that would follow on at SummerSlam when Roman would then clash with Riddle’s tag team partner Randy Orton.

WWE have, however, seemingly changed their minds and it now looks as though we may not see Roman at the Money in the Bank event at all.

According to a new report from Sports Illustrated, it states that as of this moment the Tribal Chief is ‘currently no longer scheduled to work Money in the Bank.’

Given the move to a smaller scale venue and the draw of the two Money in the Bank matches, there is some reasoning to WWE’s decision to put Reigns on the show. Especially as Roman’s appearances are set to be become rarer thanks to the new deal he recently signed with WWE.

Reigns is yet to defend his WWE Universal Championship since defeating Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania in April, and fans have seen the last two premium live events take place without a men’s world title bout as part of the card.

Riddle did call Roman out on this week’s Monday Night Raw, so there’s a chance we still get that match and title defended at some point. However, at this stage it won’t be at Money in the Bank on July 2.
