In a recent post to Instagram, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson uploaded a post-leg workout image that has sent the internet into meltdown.

The snap, taken from an evening workout, with The Rock stating in his caption “grateful for another solid training session,” shows the wrestler’s famous dedication to his fitness, squeezing in a workout whenever he can around his busy schedule, and certainly never missing leg day.

The Hollywood actor has highlighted the physical training and preparation for his superhero debut ‘Black Adam’ as one of his most difficult physical undertakings to date.

The former eight-time WWE Champion revealed that the role of Black Adam required him to focus on his leg workouts and that he learnt to work smarter and not harder to maximise his impressive leg gains.

Warming up with some stretches and activation exercises such as leg curls, leg extensions, glute abductions and single leg glute drives, Johnson then moves onto his compound movements in the form of leg press, barbell and Pit Shark squat variations.

A staple superset of walking chain lunges and slowed-down Romanian deadlifts then finishes his leg routine for the day. No wonder he’s got legs the size of tree trunks!

However, Johnson maintains that it is not about the size of the weight being pulled or pushed, but the technique of your workouts, claiming: “I’ve learned it’s not how much weight we use, but rather the quality of the reps and mind/muscle connection that matters most.”

Johnson even strongly advises against people trying to replicate his own body composition through training with extremely heavy weights, from a safety and injury perspective.

The trailer for the actor’s new film was released yesterday and showcased the now 50-year-old’s incredible physique in his muscle-fitting suit.

The release for the DC film is set for October 21 this year, and so if you cannot wait to see some more of The Rock’s unbelievable legs in a tight superhero outfit on a big screen, then make sure to save the date.
