Cris Cyborg has confirmed that she is interested in taking on undisputed lightweight boxing champion Katie Taylor.

Ever since her incredible win over Amanda Serrano in April, Katie Taylor has quickly become one of the biggest names in all of boxing. That may sound extreme to some but the manner in which she was able to overcome adversity and defeat Serrano just proves what many already knew - she’s one of the greatest female boxers of all time.

She currently holds the WBA, WBC, IBF, WBO, and The Ring female lightweight titles and with a record of 21-0, it’s hard to imagine many others coming close to what she’s accomplished.

Cris Cyborg, on the other hand, is widely considered to be one of the best female fighters in the history of mixed martial arts with a solid 26-2 (1) record.

Now, after everything she’s achieved, it appears as if the veteran is ready to make the leap over to pro boxing as she told Irish Mirror.

"I am ready to sit down and talk to Eddie whenever he is ready. Right now he has mentioned my name in the media a few times, but for me I am serious about getting into boxing and if he is serious about being my promoter then I would love to talk to him.

"What he has been able to do for all of women's boxing, not just Katie Taylor, has really helped elevate the sport for all the women competing. I have told my management I am ready to sign a contract for my first professional boxing fight, the time is now."

"To make it interesting for the fans she would have to be willing to do what Floyd Mayweather did against Conor McGregor and she would have to come up in weight a little bit to give the fans the biggest fight that can be made in women's boxing. "Realistically I think the fight would have to happen at 143lbs, but I think it would be a great fight for both of us and we could share a part of our soul with the crowd that night."

Will Taylor take the fight?

It was recently revealed that the likelihood of Taylor vs Serrano 2 happening this year at Croke Park isn’t good, with Eddie Hearn noting that they may well go in a different direction.

If they choose to do so, there may not be many better options out there than Cyborg and potentially Holly Holm, with the latter having a stronger boxing resume.
