Last night's AEW Dynamite saw the first appearance of former AEW World Champion Hangman Adam Page since losing the title to CM Punk at Forbidden Door. It seems as if he already has a new target in his crosshair.

Page went one-on-one with NJPW's David Finlay in a gruelling match. Hangman was out to get himself back on track, whereas Finlay was looking to make a statement and give NJPW momentum going into the Forbidden Door pay-per-view on June 26th.

Adam Cole would join the commentary table to scout rival and former friend Page. Cole was sporting the championship he received from winning the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament.

Finlay would put up a good fight, showcasing his tenacity and technical prowess to target and dissect the leg of Page that was still not 100% from his match with Punk.

However, Finlay would end up falling short after a german suplex followed by a Buckshot Lariat saw Page pick up a much-needed victory.

Post-match saw Page address the AEW fans regarding what is next for himself. He talked briefly about the AEW World Title situation but assured that he will discuss this on a different day and instead issued a challenge to face the IWGP World Heavyweight Champion at Forbidden Door.

The IWGP Heavyweight Title is currently held by Kazuchika Okada, but this could change as he faces Jay White at Dominion on June 12th.

Page vocalised that he wants Okada, this instigated Cole to confront him from commentary and back up that Jay White could be champion and even went on to talk about his own form and state that he deserves an IWGP World Heavyweight Championship shot just as much as Page.

The IWGP Heavyweight Championship picture will become clearer in the coming weeks.
