What is the latest news involving Winks?

According to The Telegraph, the Toffees want to sign Winks this transfer window as they look to improve their midfield.

The same outlet states that Lampard is keen to bring in at least four new names, including the Spurs player.

Chelsea youngster Conor Gallagher is another midfielder said to be on the 43-year-old’s list, though getting him out of Stamford Bridge this summer may be difficult.

As per football.london, the England international has been told that he will not be a bit-part player at the Blues next season, suggesting Thomas Tuchel has plans for him.

What has O’Rourke said about Winks to Everton?

While Gallagher looks difficult, O’Rourke can see Winks moving to Everton, who have shown interest in him before, according to the journalist.

He said to GIVEMESPORT: “Yeah, you could see this one. I know that there has been previous interest from Everton in Winks, but he’s remained at Tottenham. I think, probably, Winks does need a new challenge to get his career back on track.

“It was not too long ago he was playing for England, so he might see playing under Frank Lampard, who was a great midfielder himself, and the chance to move to Everton, as a chance to kick-start his career again.”

Would Everton be a good move for Winks?

You would probably have to say yes. The 26-year-old needs a transfer after seeing few starts under Antonio Conte.

In the season that has just gone, Winks made just eight starts in the Premier League following the Italian’s appointment as manager. Considering that, a switch to another top-flight side like Everton could be in his best interest.

John Heitinga - Everton

Which club did John Heitinga start his professional career at?

Over the last year, the England international has ranked in the 88th percentile for passes attempted and the 98th for progressive passes among midfielders (via FBref), so from the Toffees’ perspective, he could be a good option to have in the middle of the park.

Regarding how much he could cost, the Daily Mail claimed last month that Tottenham would be looking for £25m.

Back in 2018, former Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino said Winks has the profile of a “perfect midfielder”. The above would suggest that those at the north London club do not feel the same; nevertheless, he is still a player who has something to offer, be it there, at Everton or somewhere else.
