Warzone 2 Confirmed To Be Cross Gen

Warzone 2

Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 will be released later this year for PC and consoles as a cross-gen title, according to Activision.

One of the great questions surrounding Call of Duty Warzone 2 is whether it will be cross-gen or not, as well as which platforms it will launch on.

Despite their plans to skip a year, Activision has a lot in store for fans, including a brand new COD Warzone 2 sequel to 2020’s Warzone.

Many have speculated if Warzone 2 will be cross-gen or not since the company confirmed the game’s existence earlier this year.

So, here’s everything you need to know about Warzone 2 being cross-gen, as well as a list of all of the platforms on which the game will be released.

Warzone 2 Will Be Cross Gen

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has been officially announced by Activision and Infinity Ward, but it isn’t the only significant new Call of Duty game coming out this year. Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0, which is also being developed by Infinity Ward, will be released later this year, and some details have been revealed about the game.

While a full reveal is expected later this year, one piece of information that stands out among the few bits of information about the game that have been confirmed thus far is that, like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 will be a cross-gen game, releasing for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

That’s significant since, before Activision announced the game’s existence, it was believed that it would be released for PC and current-gen platforms as well, with PS4 and Xbox One versions being dropped due to Infinity Ward wanting to take full advantage of the new consoles’ greater hardware.

COD Warzone 2 All Platforms

Here’s a list of all the platforms on which COD Warzone 2 will be released:

  • Xbox Series X|S
  • PlayStation 5
  • PC
  • PlayStation 4 and Pro
  • Xbox One X and S

Activision appears to have opted to make Warzone 2 available on older consoles to improve sales after previous releases fell short of expectations.

In any case, additional information about Warzone 2.0 will be released later this year, so stay tuned. Meanwhile, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is set to release on October 28 and is expected to cost $70 across all platforms.
