This year’s Soccer Aid will feature the highest number of female players yet.The London Stadium is playing host to the charity match between England and a World XI, with kick-off set for 7:30pm on June 12th.In total, eight female celebrities and former players will join stars such as Usain Bolt, Sir Mo Farah, Gary Neville, Jamie Carragher and Andrea Pirlo at the event, a major jump from the two women – Rachel Yankey and Katie Chapman – who made history in 2019.GiveMeSport Women tells you everything you need to know about Soccer Aid’s female participants.

Which female stars are representing England at Soccer Aid?

Emma Hayes

As assistant to Harry Redknapp, Chelsea boss Emma Hayes will have a managerial role at Soccer Aid. It is her first appearance at the event.

Hayes is the most successful manager in the Women’s Super League, winning five titles with the Blues. She has also earned four FA Cup and three League Cup titles since joining Chelsea in 2012.

Vicky McClure

Line of Duty star Vicky McClure is another member of England’s coaching team at Soccer Aid, joining Redknapp, Hayes and former goalkeeper David Seaman.

McClure told Good Morning Britain she was channelling Brian Clough.

“We're looking sharp, we did a bit of training yesterday and I'm trying to channel my inner Brian Clough and say 'if you need a beer, if that will help you play better, then do it, relax, we don't want you injured for Sunday'.

“That's what I'm bringing to the table and that's going to do us proud.”

Fara Williams

Fara Williams, the most-capped England player of all time with 172 caps, returns to the Soccer Aid line-up after making her debut last year.

During an illustrious career, Williams won the WSL with Liverpool twice. She also earned an FA Cup title with both Everton and Arsenal.

Eni Aluko

Eni Aluko enjoyed a decorated career with Chelsea, winning three Women’s Super League titles and two FA Cups. She also earned 102 caps for England.

The 35-year-old is now sporting director of Angel City FC in the United States.

Anita Asante

Anita Asante was part of the historic Arsenal team that won an unprecedented quadruple in 2007. She also enjoyed stints at Chelsea, Sky Blue FC and FC Rosengård, before ending her career last season with Aston Villa.

Asante also made 71 appearances for England and was chosen to represent Team GB at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

Which female stars are representing the World XI at Soccer Aid?

Chelcee Grimes

Singer-songwriter and presenter Chelcee Grimes will make her third Soccer Aid appearance this weekend.

She has often had to balance her music career with football, but the 30-year-old has made appearances for Everton and Tottenham Hotspur, and now plays for her local team Merseyrail Ladies.

Grimes told GiveMeSport Women she is aiming to become the first female star to score at Soccer Aid.

Carli Lloyd

Two-time World Cup winner and Olympic gold medallist Carli Lloyd is set to make her Soccer Aid debut this year.

The star mainly played in the United States during her career, but enjoyed a stint at Manchester City in 2017.

Heather O’Reilly

Heather O’Reilly is another American star, winning three Olympic gold medals and one World Cup with the US.

She has also played in England for a period, featuring for Arsenal in 2017 and 2018.

Alex Scott

The former Arsenal and England right-back Alex Scott will continue her role as a pitch-side reporter at Soccer Aid.

Maya Jama

Radio and television presenter Maya Jama will offer her views as a pundit before, during and after the match.
