McLaren driver Lando Norris says that he feels a points finish is still very possible this weekend at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, despite missing out on the top ten during qualifying on Saturday.

The British driver will start tomorrow's race from P11 as he narrowly missed out on the top ten shootout in Baku.

He's alongside team-mate Daniel Ricciardo on the sixth row for the Grand Prix, meanwhile, which suggests that there perhaps wasn't much more pace the two drivers could get out of the car.

Both will be eager to try and move forward over the course of the race tomorrow, though, especially with the Baku circuit regularly providing drama and twists, and therefore opportunity to make progress.

Speaking post-qualifying to McLaren's media team, Norris said:

“It’s a little bit frustrating to miss out on Q3 by such a small gap, but I think we did a decent job today.

"We’ve been struggling a bit more with the car here on this track and we were close. I don’t think we were miles off getting into Q3. I’d put it down to a couple of smaller mistakes by me and maybe not getting the ideal strategy for the tyres in the final few laps but I don’t think we expected a lot more today anyway.

"It’s still a decent position, we’re not far away from the points. The job now is to try and move forward tomorrow.”

Lights out is at 3pm UK time on Sunday, as round eight of the world championship looms large on the horizon now.
