Daniel Dubois promised to make a big statement against Trevor Bryan, and it took him just four rounds to faceplant the American with a vicious knockout on Saturday night in Miami.

The 24-year-old is hoping for a shot at the world title later this year and had to beat an experienced opponent who had won 15 of his previous 22 fights by knockout.

It was the third straight fight Dubois has won inside the distance, following stoppage wins over Bogdan Dinu and Joe Cusumano which came after his first career defeat at the hands of Joe Joyce.

Dubois, 24, went into the bout a big favourite, which isn't exactly surprising when you consider the fact that Bryan had never faced anyone close to his level of ability before despite 32 years of age.

The fight had also gotten personal for Dubois in the weeks and months leading up to the matchup.

Bryan had posted a video of himself hitting a speed bag next to a picture of Dubois' younger sister Caroline accompanied by the following caption: "This is how you look without all that Photoshop, bum.”

Dubois came out blazing at the opening bell and began winging punches left right and centre in wild fashion, trying to score the early knockout.

To be fair Bryan's awkward style caused him a few problems at first as he initially managed to avoid taking any real damage.

But it quickly became clear he was rather hopelessly out of his depth.

It was a left hook that finally found its mark, followed by a chopping right hand that narrowly missed its target as the referee quickly stepped in to stop the fight.

After the fight, Dubois said: "I've worked so hard for this, it's unreal.

"Now it's official, now I can make some massive fights in the future; I'm so grateful.

"Definitely, bring them all on. Now I'm ready, this will set me up and I'll instantly become a better fighter for this. In my mind I was the favourite and no disrespect to anyone but Trevor's '0' had to go.

"In the first round I was just trying to figure him out and see what he had. I said I was going to test his chin and I just went for it. He brought out something, he brought out a wicked left hand. It was a perfect ending and I'm just so happy."
