Tottenham target Djed Spence is the "perfect player for Antonio Conte", according to talkSPORT reporter Alex Crook.

The north Londoners are in the driving seat to sign the England Under-21s star and Crook reckons he would fit like a glove in the Italian's system.

What's the latest news involving Spence?

Spurs have been interested in the Middlesbrough man since January, but they are only now on the verge of reaching a breakthrough with the second-tier side.

According to the Guardian, Tottenham have agreed a £20m fee for Spence, who's on the back of an exceptional season on loan at Nottingham Forest, in which he helped them return to the Premier League following a 23 year absence.

Meanwhile, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano doesn't believe an agreement has officially been reached, with discussions set to continue in the coming days, once the 21-year-old returns from international duty.

Providing Spence makes the switch to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, he'll be battling it out for the right wing-back role, a position he's played regularly during his career, alongside either Matt Doherty or Emerson Royal.

And having scored twice and assisted four goals while playing as a wing-back for Forest last season, Crook reckons he'll be ideal for Conte.

What did Crook say about Spence?

When asked whether Spurs are frontrunners for the youngster, he told GIVEMESPORT: "I think they are. I think he's the perfect player for Conte. The reason he wants another central defender is because he wants to play a back three and Djed Spence will be perfect."

Are Tottenham close to signing anyone else?

It's been a productive start to the transfer window for Spurs, who've already made two signings in Fraser Forster and Ivan Perisic and are far from finished yet.

While Spence could become Conte's third summer addition, the Tottenham boss is already eyeing up his next piece of business.

According to The Athletic, the capital club are interested in signing Everton forward Richarlison, who scored 10 goals last season to help keep Frank Lampard's side in the Premier League.

The Toffees need to raise funds to improve their financial situation, and the Brazilian could be one of those sold, with the report stating that Everton are looking at £51m or more for the ex-Watford ace.

But The Athletic believe that Spurs are yet to make an offer and will only move for the attacker providing the price is right.
