Weili Zhang staked her claim for KO of the Year against Joanna Jedrzejczyk in their UFC 275 rematch.

The Chinese MMA fighter set herself up for a world title shot at Carla Esparza later this year with a viral knockout of her fellow former strawweight queen at the weekend.

After having great success in the first round, the former KLF 115lb queen separated the Polish MMA fighter from consciousness with an incredible spinning backfist that went viral.

The beautiful but deadly strike immediately separated Jedrzejczyk from consciousness and sent her crashing headfirst straight into the canvas.

Zhang wheeled away in celebration before landing a perfect cartwheel as her opponent lay there unconscious on the ground with her arms and legs stretched out in front of her.

After a few scary moments, Jedrzejczyk fortunately managed to sit up straight, although it took a while before she eventually got back to her feet.

Zhang's incredible spinning back fist has been described by many as one of the greatest KOs of all time.

And it looks even more brutal when replayed in slow motion.

After the fight, Jedrzejczyk admitted she 'didn't know what happened that time'.

She said: “I feel good. Bells are still ringing in my head, but not bad. A few bruises.

"I got hit in the back of the head, and I’ve got a big bruise, but all good. I just saw getting closer to the mat, and I felt bells ringing in my head. I didn’t know what happened that time.

“I knew I was KOd, and I was like it’s all over, don’t hurry because you’re going to fall. It’s good. In the middle of the road before I hit the octagon, I was like sober already. She caught me good."

With the victory, Zhang snapped a two-fight losing skid.

Despite arguably beating Rose Namajunas in their rematch, Zhang has gone 1-2 in her last three fights.

However, UFC president Dana White confirmed that Esparza will fight the winner of Zhang's rematch with Jedrzejczyk later this year.

And Zhang, 32, would prefer the fight to take place at a neutral venue in the Middle East.

She told reporters: “I want fight with Carla in Abu Dhabi because I know there’s a fight there in October.

“I think Carla is a special fighter, too, and I know that can be a really good fight. Also, for me and for her – not China or the U.S. So we can fight in another country, so it’s fair for both of us.

“I think there’s no weak fighter in the top rankings.

“So if I’m fighting Carla, I need to improve my grappling, my BJJ, my wrestling.

"There’s nothing I need to specially care for. I just need to improve myself. MMA is over all sports, so I don’t think we can have any disadvantage, so I want to be a well rounded fighter.”
