Manchester City have finally announced the signing of Erling Braut Haaland from Borussia Dortmund.

The Premier League champions officially unveiled their new superstar striker on Monday and fans of the club are understandably ecstatic.

Haaland has evolved into one of the world's great footballers over the past three years or so and it's crazy to think that he's still just 21 years of age.

The Norway international's future has 'Ballon d'Or winner' written all over it and it'll be something of a shock if he doesn't score goals for fun in a sky blue jersey.

City's array of world-class attackers create chances aplenty each game and Haaland will surely take advantage of that fact.

His stats at Dortmund are outrageously good. In 89 games for the Bundesliga outfit, he bagged 86 goals, including 15 in just 13 Champions League appearances.

When you chuck assists into the mix as well, Haaland ranks among the very best in the business.

Since the giant striker joined Dortmund in January 2020, only four players operating in Europe's top five leagues have contributed to more goals across all competitions.

Spoiler alert, both Cristiano Ronaldo and Mohamed Salah are not one of them...

The 10 players with the most goal contributions since 2020 (Europe's top five leagues only)

10. Harry Kane (Tottenham Hotspur) - 95 goals contributions in 109 games

9. Thomas Muller (Bayern Munich) - 100 goal contributions in 116 games

8. Cristiano Ronaldo (Juventus & Manchester United) - 100 goal contributions in 108 games

7. Mohamed Salah (Liverpool) - 101 goal contributions in 124 games

6. Ciro Immobile (Lazio) - 101 goal contributions in 104 games

5. Erling Haaland (Borussia Dortmund) - 111 goal contributions in 89 games

4. Karim Benzema (Real Madrid) - 114 goal contributions in 117 games

3. Lionel Messi (Barcelona & Paris Saint-Germain) - 116 goal contributions in 107 games

2. Kylian Mbappe (Paris Saint-Germain) - 146 goal contributions in 111 games

  1. Robert Lewandowski (Bayern Munich) - 153 goal contributions in 108 games

Lewandowski and Mbappe's numbers are scarily good, with Haaland and Messi the other two players to have more goal contributions than appearances in the timeframe.

Haaland's tally of 23 assists in his Dortmund career is a stern reminder that while his game is primarily about rippling the back of the net, he's more than capable of creating goals for teammates as well.

Could City have found a better heir to Sergio Aguero's throne? In our opinion, probably not.
