UFC light heavyweight champion Jiri Prochazka was met with a hero’s welcome after returning home following his triumph at UFC 275.

Last Saturday night in Singapore, Jiri Prochazka went through what can only be described as one of the most hellacious fights in the history of the UFC’s 205-pound division. ‘BJP’ challenged Glover Teixeira for the strap with the fight, surprisingly, going five rounds as both men gave everything they had in the name of holding the championship up high.

Teixeira appeared to be on his way to victory in the final round after landing a few nasty blows, but credit needs to go to the challenger for the manner in which he was able to reverse position and actually submit Glover - a man known for his jiu-jitsu prowess.

Many believe Prochazka now has the potential to become a household name in the UFC and it’s hard to argue against that, especially when you look at the following footage of his return to the Czech Republic.

The homecoming parade took place in Brno and based on the videos that have been released, thousands of fans were there to greet the 29-year-old and celebrate his success.

Prochazka is the Czech Republic’s first UFC champion and it’s been a long time coming with the sport of mixed martial arts being incredibly popular throughout the nation.

What comes next?

Jiri will enjoy spending the next few days basking in the glory of his title win but after that, the focus will shift towards the next contender.

An immediate rematch against Glover Teixeira has been touted as a real possibility, but the veteran is expected to take some time off given the battle he’s just gone through.

Jan Blachowicz exchanged some words with Prochazka immediately after he left the cage over the weekend and with both men stemming from Europe, that could present the UFC with a golden opportunity to put on a big stadium show that would house these two behemoths.

The winner of the upcoming Anthony Smith vs Magomed Ankalaev fight could be in with a chance but in reality, Teixeira or Blachowicz is the way to go.
