Nottingham Forest would be a "really good move" for Tottenham defender Joe Rodon, according to Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge.

The Wales international is in desperate need of regular club football ahead of the World Cup and has been linked with the newly-promoted side.

What's the latest news involving Rodon?

Rodon wanted to leave on loan in January after hardly getting a look in last season, and now finally looks set to move away from north London in some capacity this summer.

According to reliable Spurs reporter Alasdair Gold, Forest are interested in bringing the centre-back to the City Ground, with Steve Cooper keen on reuniting with Rodon, who he managed at Swansea.

Gold said: "For Rodon, Spurs have a choice to make. Do they loan him out or do they sell him? There is interest from Forest. Steve Cooper is his former manager from his days at Swansea. He knows him very well."

Rodon, who cost Tottenham £11m, was on the pitch for just 514 minutes last term and even though he made just three appearances in the league, he's been continuously picked in Rob Page's starting XI for Wales.

But with the World Cup less than five months away, Rodon will be hoping for consistent game-time to ensure he's ready for the start of Wales' opener against USA on 21 November.

And Bridge reckons that providing he's a regular starter under Cooper, Forest would be an ideal loan move.

What did Bridge say about Rodon?

He told GIVEMESPORT: "You can't play more minutes for your country than club, so he either needs to leave on loan or go permanently. Not a Championship loan, a Premier League loan, and in the team.

"Forest could be a really good option and that would be a good move from Cooper and of course he would know him from Swansea, so I would put my thumbs up at that one."

Would Rodon be a good signing for Forest?

Rodon might lack Premier League experience, playing just 15 games in the competition, but the fact he's a regular for Wales despite hardly getting a chance for his club highlights his qualities.

Having said that, when he did get a rare opportunity in the top-flight under Jose Mourinho, Rodon by no means disgraced himself.

During that period, he made the most interceptions in the Tottenham squad (1.8), while he was in the top five players for most clearances (2.9) and most blocks (0.7) per game.

Furthermore, at 6 ft 4, Rodon is dominant in the air, winning 2.95 aerial duels every 90 minutes, which could prove crucial for a Forest side who might be required to do a lot of defending on their Premier League return.
