Roy Jones Jr has hit back at Wladimir Klitschko after the boxing legend questioned his 'moral compass' while criticising him for his connections to Russia.

The American has come under scrutiny over his alleged ties to Vladimir Putin following the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Jones Jr, who is widely regarded as one of the greatest fighters of his generation, was granted Russian citizenship in September 2015.

For this, he was banned from entering Ukraine as a result.

However, he didn't take too kindly to Klitschko's comments, as he insists that it has nothing to do with him.

Jones told ESNews: “There’s a lot of people still talking crazy.

Roy Jones Jr has responded to criticism from Wladimir Klitschko over his ties to Russia

"I’m like, 'look I don’t know what you’re talking about with the politics, but if you wanna fight, you can call me.' You know, I mean, it’s all good.

Before adding: “Why would you target me? I have nothing to do with that. As a matter of fact I have people on both sides.

"I don’t want to see nobody at war because Lomachenko is one of my favourites. You think I want to see him at war with Russia? I don't want to see Russia at war.

"I’ve got 25 kids I train in Russia, amateur kids that have nothing to do with none of that. I feel for those kids too.

“I don’t want to see nobody at war. You’re not the only person having a problem. Don’t be trying to throw me in it because I didn’t know why they put me on the blacklist for going to Crimea. I didn’t even understand that back in 2015.

“Because I do boxing, you want this heat, you can come get that. Other that I don’t hear what you talking about.”

The 53-year-old ring legend also spoke of the pride he felt after being inducted into the Hall of Fame at the weekend.

He continued: "It was a great experience. It's taken a lot of time getting here. You still get a lot of challenges here and there but at the same time we know what it is.

"The man said it already, in over 106 years, only one person went all the way from middleweight to the heavyweight championship of the world. That's enough said.

"So yeah, it was fun, it was beautiful to see that they finally understand and accept the efforts that I gave to this sport to make sure that I embedded myself in the top position of that."
