Neil Warnock has picked his dream Premier League XI - and it's certainly interesting.

The legendary manager is finally enjoying retirement after more than 50 years of playing and managing.

Quite what Warnock does next in his life is unknown but with his vast experience, it'll be a shame for it to go to waste.

After all, every football fan thinks they know everything about the spot. We often believe our opinion of teams and players can't be questioned. And yet most of us have never been involved in football in a professional capacity.

When asked to name the best XI in the Premier League right now, try telling us that our selections are incorrect.

But, let's be honest, there are people who know far more about football than us.

There aren't too many that know more about the game than Warnock. After all, he's been involved for the last 50 years since making his debut for Chesterfield in 1967.

So when he was asked to name a team capable of winning the Premier League with a limitless budget by the Mirror, we shouldn't have the authority to question his selections.

But if Warnock insists on picking the likes of Kasper Schmeichel and Dan Burn like he has, then I think we have every right and ask some questions.

Warnock's full team - and subs - are:

Warnock picks his dream Premier League team

Warnock's dream Premier League team: Kasper Schmeichel, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk, Dan Burn, Kieran Tierney; Kevin De Bruyne, Declan Rice, Bernardo Silva; Mohamed Salah, Harry Kane, Son Heung-min.

Subs: Kalvin Phillips, Bukayo Saka, Marc Cucurella, Aymeric Laporte, Nick Pope.

Neil Warnock's Premier League XI

Schmeichel over the likes of Ederson and Alisson is the first questionable pick but Warnock explained his pick.

"I like Kasper's confidence and his presence. He's been very loyal to Leicester. I did think of Nick Pope but I thought I'd go for Schmeichel's experience. And I don't think he'd cost me much either!"

But what about Burn instead of Ruben Dias, Joel Matip or the several defenders actually better than the Newcastle man?

"With Dan Burn, I just wanted an English centre-half. Somebody who can defend, a left-footer, somebody who talks well and would work well with Van Dijk," Warnock explained. "The other option was maybe Ben White. He's better on the ball than Burn but Burn is a better defender, so I went with him. I nearly went with Antonio Rudiger but I opted for Burn."

Tierney at left back over Andy Robertson or Joao Cancelo is another controversial selection.

While Warnock didn't explain his reasoning there, he did have some high praise for a certain Kevin de Bruyne.

"With the midfield, I thought (Kevin) De Bruyne was a no-brainer. I've not seen anybody quite as good as him in my lifetime," he said.

A front three of Salah, Kane and Son means there's no place for Ronaldo and he's also not even on the bench!
