Arsenal still need to convince Gabriel Jesus and Alvaro Morata that they should join the club, according to journalist Dean Jones.

The Gunners are keen to bring in a new No. 9 this summer, and Jesus and Morata have emerged as two potential options for Mikel Arteta.

What's the latest news involving Jesus and Morata?

Jesus has just one year remaining on his contract at Manchester City, and has no intention of extending his stay at the Etihad Stadium.

With his contract at City running down, Arsenal have identified him as their primary target for the lone striker position, as reported by The Athletic.

The north London outfit have also been linked with Morata, and Italian outlet Calciomercato has claimed that Arsenal have the finances to bring the Spanish international to the Emirates Stadium.

What has Jones said about Jesus and Morata?

Jones believes Arsenal may have some difficulties in landing Jesus and Morata, who CIES value at a combined total of £95m, as they will not be able to offer the pair Champions League football next term.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, Jones said: “The case with both of those players is they need convincing of joining Arsenal. They’ve got European football, which is something, but it’s not the level of European football that either of those players will consider that they should be playing at right now."

Will Arteta be able to convince Jesus and Morata to join Arsenal?

Getting both players through the door at Arsenal appears unlikely given how much they would be likely to cost, so Arteta may have to just focus on one for now.

Both players are used to playing in the Champions League, and they have been at clubs that have made the final of club football's biggest competition.

Not being involved in that tournament would undoubtedly be a blow for Jesus and Morata, but Arsenal did show signs of progression last year.

They jumped from eighth to fifth place in the league, and Arteta is building a young, exciting squad which has allowed the likes of Bukayo Saka, Martin Odegaard and Gabriel Martinelli to flourish.

They came very close to getting into the top four last season, and Jesus or Morata may fancy the opportunity to lead the line and steer Arsenal back into the Champions League next term, while also helping the club challenge for major trophies once more.
