The future of Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia is in doubt, says journalist Dean Jones.

The Blues have entered a new era following Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital's takeover of the club, and that could have ramifications for those who were in charge during the previous regime like Granovskaia.

What is the latest boardroom news involving Chelsea?

At the start of the month, German outlet Sport Bild claimed that Atletico Madrid sporting director Andrea Berta is in line to replace Roman Abramovich's right-hand woman at Stamford Bridge.

They state that she has opted to step away from the club, though chairman Bruce Buck is expected to remain in west London.

If true, it is a development that manager Thomas Tuchel may not be too happy about after the German hinted that he wanted to continue working alongside the Chelsea director and technical and performance advisor Petr Cech.

"As you know, I was so happy with the structure that the club provides and the mentality Chelsea provides," Tuchel was quoted as saying by The Telegraph back in April.

What has Jones said about Granovskaia's future at Chelsea?

Jones has told GIVEMESPORT that a statement on Granovskaia's future could be imminent, with it currently in doubt right now.

Speaking to GMS, the journalist said: "I'm expecting some clarity on her situation soon. I was told that there might even be a statement in the next week or so over Granovskaia's role at Chelsea, so it'll be an interesting one. Largely, I think she's done a really good job at Chelsea, but there have been some failures.

"You go back and look at the [Romelu] Lukaku situation last summer, there were definitely some people around Chelsea that didn't think that was a good idea, but Abramovich did and Granovskaia did and it hasn't worked out. So it'll be interesting to see which way that falls, but there's certainly some doubt over whether she continues."

What would Granovskaia's exit mean for Chelsea?

If Granovskaia, who oversaw Chelsea's transfer business under Abramovich, leaves, it could see Tuchel handed more of a say when it comes to recruitment.

According to The Telegraph, the Blues boss has already been told he can take the lead in the market this summer despite Granovskaia still being present.

It possibly explains the links to Ousmane Dembele and Presnel Kimpembe, players who Tuchel has worked with before. Jones has even revealed to GMS that the Champions League-winning manager has made it clear to those at the club that the latter is a player who he "really likes".

How much influence Tuchel gets in the long term, with Granovskaia surely to be replaced if she does depart, remains to be seen.
