Paris Fury, the wife of Tyson Fury, has admitted he may return to boxing - despite wanting him to stay retired.

Earlier this year at Wembley Stadium, Tyson Fury knocked Dillian Whyte out to successfully retain The Ring and WBC heavyweight titles. ‘The Gypsy King’ was just about flawless from start to finish and by defeating Whyte, he was able to move to 32-0-1 and maintain his unbeaten record as a professional.

In the immediate aftermath of the result it appeared as if Fury would stick to his promise and ride off into the sunset, retiring from pro boxing in the process. Alas, an interview released earlier this week suggests otherwise, with Fury noting that there’s a good chance he’ll return to the ring in one way or another, even if it’s for an exhibition bout.

A lot of fans were left feeling confused about what exactly he’s going to do next but in a chat with Piers Morgan, the champ’s wife Paris made it clear that she thinks he’s still got the itch to compete.

“I’d like him to retire,” Paris said.

“But there's something in the back of my mind saying he's itching for another fight. It's there - woman's instinct, there's something still calling him out there.

“As the wife, I just look and wonder ''are you done?'' I hope he is. I hope he chooses another path but honestly, I think there is a question mark there.”

“After the first fight with Deontay Wilder I begged him not to fight again.

'And then he fought again and now he's saying he's quit again. I just don't think it's the end. I just wonder. You never know, we'll wait and see.”

The two obstacles

If it wasn’t for two potentially lucrative paydays, Fury may not even be entertaining the idea of a comeback. Unfortunately for Paris, there are two scenarios that could very easily lead to Tyson putting on his gloves one more time.

The first is a mixed rules showcase against Francis Ngannou, the current UFC heavyweight champion, which feels pretty likely at this point.

The second is a heavyweight unification fight with the winner of the upcoming Oleksandr Usyk vs Anthony Joshua rematch, with the victor of that meeting potentially being labelled the greatest heavyweight of this era.
