Tyson Fury looks set to make his boxing comeback later this year.

Fury’s promoter Bob Arum has confirmed he plans to pit his fighter against Francis Ngannou and the winner of Anthony Joshua‘s rematch with Oleksandr Usyk.

The Gypsy King, 33, announced his retirement after beating Dillian Whyte at Wembley Stadium in April to retain his WBC heavyweight title and extend his perfect professional record to 32.

But he has since gone back on his word and recently declared his intention to make a comeback.

Arum told Fight Hub TV: “The MMA guy is still recovering from an injury, but I would love to do that fight.

“Depending on Ngannou’s contract with the UFC, we need to do it with or without the UFC, but that would be a huge, huge event.

“Sure, I’m interested. Who wouldn’t be? Ngannou is the heavyweight champion of the UFC, and Tyson Fury, I think it would be a huge, huge event.

“He didn’t say dollars. Maybe he was talking pesos.

“That’s up to Tyson. He’s a very intelligent guy and has a lot of opportunities outside of boxing. For a guy like Tyson, you take it one step at a time.

“So I’m optimistic without discussing it with him, sometime down the road, he’ll fight the winner of Joshua-Usyk, which I hope is Usyk, and he’ll fight Ngannou and maybe call it a day.

“But I know he loves training and he loves being in the ring, so that’s a plus.”

Arum’s comments come after Fury gave fans an update on his future.

The Ultimate Tyson Fury quiz: Where was Tyson Fury born?

He recently said: “I will be back in the ring 100 per cent, just like in the movie when Jerry Maguire shouted ‘Show Me The Money!’

“If anyone can show me the money then it’s Frank Warren, I call him the Magic Man and we are going to make some big, big things happen.

“When this middleweight knocks out this bodybuilder there will only be one man to sort this absolute circus out. What I would say to the people who want this fight to happen is: you better have a big cheque book.

“Because to bring the big GK out of retirement to redeem this country – yet again – it’s going to cost.

“I am a prize fighter and I do fight for prizes but it is going to cost if you want me to do a mission on this middleweight and show what a real heavyweight does to them.

“And that will be expensive, they will need deep pockets and then we can talk but not before the Usyk vs Joshua fight happens first, because it is pointless before.”
