While the 2021/22 season has only just officially ended following the conclusion of a handful of Nations League fixtures, the 2022/23 campaign is already right around the corner.

A tightly packed schedule is in place for the second half of the year in order to accommodate for the 2022 Qatar World Cup in December, meaning we'll be drowning in Premier League action again imminently.

And with that, the transfer window is more important than ever. Most clubs are clawing to strengthen their squads and beat out competition to secure primary targets.

Well, we say 'most' clubs for a reason, because Manchester United are still sat twiddling their thumbs at the time of writing.

That's not to say that every club needs a squad full of fresh faces, though. Instead, there's always a player or two who are simply too good to lose at almost every single club, making it a nightmare to find the ideal replacement in the transfer market.

We at GIVEMESPORT will be switching our focus to that very matter today, taking off the transfer speculation hats and instead focusing on every Premier League club's most prized asset. The man they simply must keep hold of at all costs.

So, without further ado, here is who we think is every 2022/23 Premier League club's more irreplaceable player.

Arsenal - Martin Odegaard

It's hard to identify one singular talent that stands out as completely irreplaceable in Mikel Arteta's squad for the moment, but Odegaard feels closest to reaching that status right now.

The Norwegian is already chief creator for the Gunners and will only continue to grow in stature. Sure, Arsenal could find another advanced midfielder who excels between the lines and provides goal contributions, but to find one as young as Odegaard would cost them a fortune.

Aston Villa - Philippe Coutinho

Villa have nothing short of a genuinely world class player on their hands in Coutinho, and they have the influence of Steven Gerrard to thank for him signing permanently for the club.

Again, finding an advanced, creative midfielder isn't difficult per say, but to find a player at Coutinho's level to replace him is simply unthinkable for Villa right now. The Brazilian playmaker is their crown jewel.

Bournemouth - Philip Billing

A player who already has Premier League experience, Billing could prove to be a vital cog in the machine for Bournemouth upon their return to the top flight.

He returns to the Premier League himself a much more well rounded and experienced player, who lit up the Championship in the 2021/22 season. Billing is a towering presence in the midfield with an impressive technical ability and much will be expected of him.

Brentford - Christian Norgaard

It remains unclear whether or not Christian Eriksen will return to Brentford for the 2022/23 season, and with the Premier League big guns showing interest, it feels increasingly unlikely.

Brentford must instead focus on keeping a hold of Norgaard. The 28-year-old Dane was quietly one of the most consistently impressive defensive midfielders in the Premier League last season, and would prove an attractive option for sides above Brentford in the table. They must keep hold of him.

Brighton - Robert Sanchez

Considering just how good Brighton have proven to be at this recruitment thing, it's difficult to pinpoint where exactly they'd struggle to replace a key player, because they continue to prove over and over that they're among the best at finding hidden gems.

Having said that, Sanchez continues to excel between the sticks and ball-playing goalkeepers are all the rage. The Spaniard is now featuring more regularly for the national team and is surely only a season away from a big move.

Chelsea - Reece James

James' sudden ascent in the last season or two has been nothing short of sensational.

The Englishman slotted seamlessly into Chelsea's first team and now consistently looks like a genuinely elite player. He can do everything a top level full back needs to do and would prove incredibly difficult to replace, considering the lack of options in the full backs market.

Crystal Palace - Michael Olise

Patrick Vieira is building something seriously exciting at Crystal Palace. But with Conor Gallagher's loan expired, the player he cannot afford to lose is Olise.

Olise has taken to the Premier League extraordinarily well after stepping up from the Championship. He glides past players fearlessly and can find the net. His ceiling looks to be incredibly high, and Palace cannot miss out on that.

Everton - Jordan Pickford

It's hard to find an irreplaceable player in an Everton squad that trudged along to an immensely disappointing season that almost saw them relegated, but Pickford is the exception.

Never without his critics, England's number one showed his quality throughout 2021/22 and proved to everyone why he remains first choice for Gareth Southgate. Everton would find it near impossible to replace him effectively.

Fulham - Aleksandar Mitrovic

Fulham must do everything in their power to avoid falling straight back down to the Championship once again, and getting Mitrovic firing in the top flight is key to that.

The Serbian scored a record 43 Championship goals last season, which shows just how good he can be in front of goal. Get him going early and he could be key to their survival.

Leeds United - Raphinha

Avoiding relegation has dramatically increased Leeds' chances of keeping hold of Raphinha, for at least one more season anyway.

Jesse Marsch has a genuinely world class winger on his hands whose creative and direct style of play can send any defender to the shops on a good day. Losing him might well become inevitable, which is a concern, but they must enjoy the fruits of his labour while they last.

Leicester - Wesley Fofana

It's a tricky one for Leicester, who seem to be in the middle of a rebuild as their impressive previous cycle comes to an end.

One man whose presence has already proven vital in his absence, though, is young Fofana. The Foxes were a mess defensively throughout 2021/22 due to his lengthy injury layoff. His return in 2022/23 will be key to their future fortunes, and if he recovers his previous form, offers will likely flood in in the coming seasons.

Liverpool - Trent Alexander-Arnold

Sadio Mane has gone, life without Mohamed Salah looks a real possibility, and Liverpool have already proven that they can just about get by without Virgil van Dijk, leaving Alexander-Arnold.

Full backs are key to the way Liverpool play. And while Andy Robertson is equally as key, losing a local lad who is also every bit a world class player with a passing range like very few others in his position would be disastrous. Alexander-Arnold is Liverpool through and through.

Manchester City - Phil Foden

One thing Manchester City cannot buy with all their riches is football heritage. Phil Foden - a local lad blossoming into one of the world's best at his boyhood club - is exactly that.

Foden has the minerals to become the best English player ever. Seriously, he's that good. That kind of talent will always tempt Real Madrid and the like to come knocking at some point, which City must rebuff.

Manchester United - Cristiano Ronaldo

There was absolutely nothing positive to take from the 2021/22 season for United fans. Nothing. The playing squad plays a significant part in that dismal truth.

Like Everton, you could make a case to replace just about anyone in United's first team, with Ronaldo the only real exception. Is he perfect for them going forward? Far from it. But there's only one other player in the world who trumps him for Ballon d'Or wins, so he takes the spot.

Newcastle United - Allan Saint-Maximin

As Newcastle become the richest club in football and will almost definitely use that power to completely regenerate their playing squad, one player they would struggle to replace is Saint-Maximin, who is perhaps the most fun player in the Premier League.

In an era that is seeing pure, unbridled flair players die out slowly, Saint-Maximin is carrying the torch and keeping the essence of 'the Barclays' alive with his unapologetic skill runs. Newcastle need to cherish this.

Nottingham Forest - Brennan Johnson

The Championship's Young Player of the Year, Johnson seems fearless when it comes to taking the step up to the big stage; his performances in the Wales national team are evidence of this.

Nottingham Forest need a young star with bags of potential to rely on when times get tough this season. James Garner could return, but it isn't a guarantee, and Brice Samba looks set to leave the club. Johnson will become the star man, and Forest must do all they can to keep him at the club.

Southampton - James Ward-Prowse

Southampton's squad is lacking a handful of stars that they can rely on to pull them away from the relegation scrap every season, thus Ward-Prowse feels like they only player they truly cannot get rid of.

Club captain, a set-piece specialist, and an England international, Ward-Prowse has matured into a fine midfielder and a shrewd option for top sides looking for reinforcements. Southampton would struggle immensely without him.

Tottenham - Harry Kane

The boring option, we know, but there's a reason Daniel Levy was willing to do whatever it took to stop Kane from leaving Tottenham and joining Manchester City. That reason being he's pretty damn good, and there are few strikers who can bag Premier League goals like he can.

Son Heung-min comes in at a close second, but we feel as though losing Kane would present Spurs with a bigger replacement headache. You only have to look at how they spent the Gareth Bale money to recognise that.

West Ham - Declan Rice

West Ham have watched their academy star blossom into one of the most in-demand, young midfielders in world football, and for good reason. Rice is the full package.

Not only would West Ham lose his obvious on the ball qualities, but they'd also have to find a way to replace his love for the club, his leadership traits and his professionalism, all at such a young age.

Wolves - Jose Sa

Perhaps an outside of the box pick, there's no underestimating just how important a good goalkeeper is. Wolves found the perfect Rui Patricio replacement in Sa, but finding another replacement would be a nightmare.

Bruno Lage needs to improve his side in other areas, too. Losing a top class goalkeeper would be a severe hindrance; Sa needs to be the backbone of a new-look Wolves side.
