The Brazilian wheeled away in celebration but was quickly ushered back to the half-way line by his teammates so the game could restart.

Rodrygo recently reflected on his debut strike and the telling off he received from Marcelo and Nacho after the game.

He said on the Jota Jota podcast, per ManagingMadrid: “In my debut with Real Madrid, in pre-season, I scored a goal from a free-kick and celebrated. When I got to the dressing room, Marcelo and Nacho said to me: ‘if you’re losing and you celebrate, get the ball and get to the centre circle, you don’t celebrate it.”

Now 21, Rodrygo netted nine times in the 2021/22 season. He scored vital goals in Real Madrid's Champions League triumph.

He has been progressing well but Los Blancos will be hoping he can reach another level in the 2022/23 campaign.
