Manchester City have spent massively since Abu Dhabi United Group bought the club in 2008.

The owners have spent billions on acquiring the world's best players over the past 14 years.

City's spending continued last week as they completed the £51m acquisition of Erling Haaland.

The Citizens could spend even more in the near future, with moves for Brighton's Marc Cucurella and Leeds' Kalvin Phillips touted.

But, despite splashing the cash since 2008, City have not spent the most of any club in the 21st century.

French outlet PopFoot have crunched the numbers and named the 20 clubs that have spent the most money since 2000.

City are just beaten to top spot. View the clubs who have spent the most money this millennium below...

Manchester United have spent just over €2 billion this century, €300m more than fierce rivals Liverpool.

The Reds, surprisingly, are tied with PSG, who spent ludicrous amounts of money on Mbappe and Neymar.

Bayern Munich have had incredible success since 2000, being crowned Champions League winners on three ocassions, but are only the 15th highest spenders of the century.

Among the clubs that have spent more than the Bavarian giants include Arsenal, Tottenham and AS Roma.
