Tyson Fury could face Joe Joyce on his boxing return - before fighting the winner of Anthony Joshua's rematch with Oleksandr Usyk.

The Gypsy King, 33, successfully defended his WBC heavyweight title against mandatory challenger Dillian Whyte, 34, with a sixth-round knockout.

He then followed that up by announcing his shock retirement in front of a soldout crowd at Wembley Stadium in April.

But that retirement appears to be short-lived as he recently declared his intention to make a comeback.

And when he does step back into the ring, Fury's US promoter Bob Arum suggested it could be against the man known as 'The Juggernaut'.

The Top Rank boss also claimed that should the Brit beat Joyce - and extend his record to 33-0-1 - he will most likely fight either Joshua or Usyk early next year.

Arum, 90, told Queensberry Promotions' official YouTube channel: "He's going to fight, he's a fighting man, and I expect Tyson Fury back in the ring before the end of the year.

"I think if Joe Joyce wins his fight in early July, Tyson Fury and Joyce at Wembley in early at the beginning of October will do as well if not better - I don't know how you can do better - but as well as the Dillian Whyte fight with Tyson Fury.

Tyson Fury's boxing return is likely to be towards the end of 2022

"That will lead to a Fury fight with the winner of Joshua and Usyk. I'll do the best I can to make sure that fight takes place in the UK because I don't think it's good for boxing to have a fight like that and putting it in Saudi Arabia.

"Maybe it makes them more money doing it that way, but I don't think it's right for the fans.

"Boxing is a sport that depends on the enthusiasm of the fans and you would never think of taking the Super Bowl and moving it to Saudi Arabia no matter what the Saudis are willing to pay or a Premier League championship.

"In the short-term, it's probably advantageous to go to Saudi Arabia and grab the money. But long-term, it's not good for the sport."

Fury has brought Joyce in for sparring in the past.

The 36-year-old - who is currently set to face Christian Hammer - also fought Joshua and Usyk in the amateurs.

And Joyce admitted that Fury stands heads and shoulders above them all - but insists that he can be the man to hand him his first professional loss.

He told The Sun: "I agree with him on one thing: None of the others stand a chance against him.

“I am the only one that can beat him if he ever took the challenge.

“If by some miracle Joshua beats Usyk, he will have to face me or vacate the belt.

“His chin has gone and I don’t think his heart is fully in the game any more — he’s a businessman more interested in lecturing students.

“I’m No 1 with the WBO and when Usyk beats Joshua again I’ll show you how a proper heavyweight in 10oz gloves deals with a man who lost to a welterweight in the amateurs.”
