Manchester United target Pau Torres moving to the Premier League this summer is a "serious possibility", says transfer guru Fabrizio Romano.

The Villarreal defender continues to be linked to clubs in England, and Romano can see something materialising this window.

What is the latest news involving Torres?

Earlier this month, the Daily Mail reported that Tottenham are exploring a part-exchange deal for Torres that would see Giovani Lo Celso move to Villarreal permanently.

The 26-year-old spent the second half of last season out on loan at the Estadio de la Ceramica and played regularly under Unai Emery, so the above is something that may appeal to the Spanish club.

However, according to the same Daily Mail report, United and Chelsea have also shown an interest in Torres, which could complicate things for Tottenham.

Should Villarreal not be open to a part-exchange deal for Torres this summer, then the likes of Spurs and United could be looking at £55m if they want to sign the Spaniard - his current release clause.

What has Romano said about Torres and United?

Romano has told GIVEMESPORT that Torres moving to the Premier League is a possibility, but United are still considering all of their options right now.

Speaking to GMS, the Italian journalist said: "I see Pau Torres playing in the Premier League next season because it's a serious possibility, but at the moment, it's still not something advanced between clubs. So I think they are considering together with Erik ten Hag the best option and then they will jump into it."

Which Premier League club needs Torres the most?

Out of United, Tottenham and Chelsea, you would probably have to say it is Thomas Tuchel's side who need Torres the most.

United supporters will point to how dire their defence was last season, with the Red Devils conceding 58 goals in English football's top division.

However, while you can debate the quality of the likes of Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof, Ten Hag at least has numbers when it comes to that area.

Chelsea, on the other hand, are lacking options in that department following the departures of Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen and also use a back three, so they are in desperate need of a new central defender like Torres.

The above is not to say United are not, though, especially after the campaign they have just had, so you would expect them to be chasing a centre-half this window alongside their Premier League rivals Chelsea and Tottenham.
