Manchester United star Marcus Rashford could be set to remain at Old Trafford due to the chances of a move to Paris Saint-Germain reducing, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano.

With Mauricio Pochettino on his way out of the French giants' hot seat, that could result in interest in the winger being cooled.

What's the latest news involving Rashford?

Erik ten Hag was appointed as Manchester United's new boss after the climax of last season and could look to make widespread changes to the squad he has inherited.

However, Romano has already told GIVEMESPORT that Rashford is likely to escape an Old Trafford cull as ten Hag will give the 24-year-old a chance to play his way into his plans.

It was revealed in March that the £54million-rated ace was considering his future after growing frustrated at a lack of game-time under then-interim manager Ralf Rangnick.

He has previously been linked with PSG, while La Liga giants Barcelona also expressed an interest as uncertainty grew over Rashford's long-term future towards the end of the 2021/22 campaign.

While Rashford's £200,000-per-week Manchester United contract is set to expire next summer, the Red Devils hold the option of extending the deal by another 12 months.

What has Fabrizio Romano said about Rashford?

Romano understands Rashford could be denied a move to PSG due to an alteration in the dugout.

The transfer guru believes the Ligue 1 side's interest stemmed from Pochettino being an admirer, so the Argentinian's exit may prove crucial.

Romano told GIVEMESPORT: "At the moment, with Rashford, it is still a quiet situation. We had some links with some clubs, but at the moment I'm told there is nothing special.

"Some links were about Paris Saint-Germain because they had an interest in Marcus Rashford, but it was with Mauricio Pochettino as a manager because Pochettino is a big fan of Rashford and wanted him last summer.

"Paris Saint-Germain was a possibility this summer, but now they're going to change the manager and so nothing is going on between PSG and Manchester United for Rashford."

Should ten Hag look to keep Rashford at Old Trafford?

Last season did not go to plan for Rashford, with him only finding the back of the net five times in 32 appearances, but it proved to be a struggle for Manchester United as a whole as they finished 13 points adrift of Champions League qualification.

The 46-cap England international has shown that he can be a huge threat when he is at the top of his game, with him racking up 150 goal contributions in 303 outings.

While he did not get his name on the scoresheet as often as he would have liked last term, Rashford still finished in the 96th percentile for shots on target among attacking midfielders and wingers in the Premier League last term, so there is every chance that he is capable of delivering the goods under ten Hag.
