Liverpool have had their eyes firmly set on the future in the summer transfer window.

While the Reds have always been one to champion youthful signings, the reality is that their 'Golden Generation' under Jurgen Klopp has started to rank amongst the oldest squads in the Premier League.

It's easy to forget, for example, that the fabled front three of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino are now all 30 years old.

Liverpool regenerating

And although that's still perfectly young and fresh in the wider context of life, it's nevertheless an indicator in football that dipping into the transfer market for up and coming stars is probably the way to go.

However, Liverpool didn't need telling that because their entire 2022 spending policy seems to have orbited around a long-term vision that suggests the club is cleverly regenerating and evolving under Klopp.

The acquisitions of Luis Diaz (25), Darwin Nunez (22) and Calvin Ramsay (18) are, if anything, in line with Sir Alex Ferguson's great work at Manchester United in illustrating this Liverpool side moving with the times.

Excitement around Fabio Carvalho

And you can bet your bottom dollar that a certain Fabio Carvalho will play a huge role in that.

Snapped up on a five-year deal from Fulham to the tune of £5 million with a further £2.7 million in add-ons, the 19-year-old is the latest youngster to come through the door at Melwood in recent months.

The attacking midfielder, who has represented both England and Portugal at youth levels, has been on the Reds' radar for some time now and looks set to get straight into first-team action as opposed to going back out on loan.

After all, Carvalho played a key role in Fulham winning the Championship last season having notched 11 goals and eight assists from 37 games in just his second year as a professional.

Exciting montage of Carvalho

However, despite the fact that Carvalho already has Premier League appearances and even a goal to his name, it's fair to say that many Kopites and neutral fans alike aren't particularly au fait with his body of work so far.

And that's exactly why a brilliant montage by Twitter user @CF_Compss of Carvalho tearing it up for the Cottagers last season has drawn in so much attention, amassing over 3,000 'likes' at the time of writing.

Showing off the poise and panache of Carvalho's play to the point that one can't help picking up Philippe Coutinho vibes, the compilation is the perfect way to familiarise yourself with Liverpool's new man, so be sure to give it a watch down below:

Serious Coutinho vibes

The early signs are promising, that's for sure.

Don't get it twisted, plenty of players have come and gone over the years who have looked the business in a YouTube montage only to flop when it matters most, but it's hard to see Carvalho taking that path.

Not only are Liverpool viciously astute in their talent-spotting and recruitment, but three or four clips is all it takes for you to appreciate that Carvalho has got all the hallmarks of a top-class talent.

Besides, you can really see in the way that he bears down on the final third and penalty area why his style of play reminds us of Coutinho, penetrating the opponents' banks of four by himself if he has to.

And if he can have even half the impact that Coutinho did on Merseyside when he matures into his prime, then you can rest assured that Liverpool will have got their money's worth at less than £10 million.

Liverpool are very much looking towards the future - and the future looks bright.
