It's already shaping up to be a busy summer transfer window for Liverpool.

Typically, Jurgen Klopp and his recruitment team have looked to get their business out the way early doors.

It's a tactic we've seen used to good effect by them in recent years, as it helps to minimise any unnecessary distractions as we get closer to the season.

Incoming business

The Reds have wrapped up three deals this window to date.

Fabio Carvalho, who Liverpool agreed a deal for way back at the start of April, was unveiled as the club's first signing.

That was followed by Darwin Nunez of Benfica. The Uruguayan hitman set the club back an initial £64.5 million, although that figure could rise to as much as £85 million based on performance related add-ons.

Whilst most recently, Scottish right-back Calvin Ramsay put pen to paper on a long-term contract at Anfield for a reported £6.5 million.

Outgoing business

It's been confirmed that Divock Origi will leave the club this summer, with the most likely destination looking like AC Milan.

Sadio Mane also looks to be on the verge of officially signing with Bavarian giants, Bayern Munich.

The departure of the Senegalese star is sure to leave an enormous gap in the squad that might see Liverpool change the way they play in the new year - but we'll get to that shortly.

Aside from Mane, it's highly likely that Klopp will allow several other players that could be deemed surplus to requirements to leave in order to recuperate some of the outgoings spent so far.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Neco Williams, Nat Phillips, and Rhys Williams all look like near certainties to move on. Whilst a host of less senior players might also find themselves on the way out.

How could Liverpool line up next season?

With those wholesale changes in mind then, it's worth considering how they might alter the way Liverpool play.

Below we've complied a few different tactical set-ups that the Reds could employ.

And, little disclaimer, we haven't gone for a different line-up based upon every potential player change, they can be traded in and out as you wish, instead we are just considering the different formations and styles.

Option 1:
4-2-3-1 system

This is our favourite potential line-up of them all and it would involve Klopp rolling back the years to his Dortmund days.

The Yellow Submarine were famous under Klopp for adopting this approach, so we know the German is more than capable of building a title winning team this way.

And just imagine how naughty Firmino could be in that number 10 role...

Option 2:
4-3-3 system

This set-up would be similar to what Liverpool adopt now, however given Nunez is more of a traditional striker than a false nine, the team might find it more difficult to link-up the play in the same fashion we've become so accustomed to.

Option 3:
4-3-3 system with a deep-lying forward

Again, this would be the exact same principle as last season, but it could potentially mean that Liverpool don't typically start with Nunez in the team and instead sub him on.

Who knows? Maybe Klopp will be able to teach him to play that false nine role, only time will tell.

Although, we know for sure that any of Firmino, Jota or Salah could slot into that position comfortably.

Option 4:
4-1-2-1-2 system

Now, this is a curveball and it's also highly unlikely to happen as we're pretty sure the only people using a 4-1-2-1-2 wide system are playing FIFA 13, but hear us out.

Playing this system would bring the added firepower of both Salah and Nunez up-front, the creativity of Elliot and Thiago high up the pitch, all whilst keeping the hard working Diaz on the left-hand side.

Food for thought.

However Liverpool line up, though, you can guarantee they're going to be a lethal outfit with the squad they have at their disposal.
