Christian Horner has lavished praise on Max Verstappen by saying that the Dutchman is currently 'in the form of his life' at Red Bull.

The reigning world champion is flying at the moment and is looking very hard to beat.

He added another win to his tally at the weekend in Montreal, with him moving up to 9th in the all-time winners list in Formula 1, with him now sitting on 26.

Indeed, he's now 46 points clear of Sergio Perez in second in the standings, and 49 points clear of Leclerc, and right now it is hard to make a case for anyone else winning the world championship this year.

Of course, there is a long way to go and 2021 showed that a big gap in the standings can soon be wiped out, whilst Leclerc has also seen that happen to him this very season in the Ferrari.

Horner, though, believes that Max is in the form of his life and, given what has gone before, that makes for some potentially unhappy reading for the rest of the field:

"Max, you know he’s just been dominant all weekend and the amount of pressure he had to soak up in that last 15 laps after the [Safety Car] was really impressive,” said Horner after the Canadian Grand Prix.

“He was super-cool, and we had a radio issue as well; I think he could hear us but we couldn’t hear him. But the way he managed the race, the way that he controlled the pace, the tyres, was a masterclass.

"Look, we’ve got to take each race at a time; we’ve put a great run together, it’s great to be heading to Silverstone leading both championships, Max is in the form of his life, the team are doing a great job."

Carlos Sainz pushed Max hard but he never looked likely to crumble under the pressure, and that underlines the class he has got at the wheel of that Red Bull.

He'll be looking to win in Silverstone next weekend, then, as he eyes redemption for what happened in 2021.
