New York Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson has been left stunned by what he is expected to do now that he has entered the NFL.

The New York Jets have been more or less the runt of the litter in the NFL for the past few years. Without a winning season since 2015, they only won six games across the past two seasons, with their 2-14 record in 2020 putting them low enough to draft early in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft.

That finish combined with a number of trades that they made not only in the past but also on draft night this year means that they are loading up for one big push that will hopefully see them make it back to relevancy in the league rather than at the bottom of the pile.

One of those picks is Garrett Wilson, who they took with the 10th overall pick in this year’s draft, the second of 19 wide receivers to be taken over the draft weekend, and based on his college numbers, he certainly seems as if he could make an impact for the Jets in the league.

Coming in with pedigree

During his time at Ohio State, he hauled in 143 catches which translated into 2,213 receiving yards and 23 touchdowns for the Buckeyes, possessing impressive skills both before, during and after the catch that should see him translate incredibly well into life in the NFL and give quarterback Zach Wilson an excellent target to work with as he looks to take the team forward:

And luckily they are only paying Wilson for what he can do on the field, because as footage from a recent interview showed, he might not be the smartest when it comes to his awareness of what needs to be done off the field in order to make it in the NFL.

More than he bargained for

In an interview on The Pivot Podcast, Wilson was talking about his new life in the NFL and how he was ‘excited’ to taking his fellow receivers out for dinner one night in order to get to know them.

However, hosts Channing Crowder, Fred Taylor & Ryan Clark, all of whom who have played in the league and know how things go down, were quick to tell him that the experience was not necessarily something that he or his wallet would be looking forward to:
