Jorge Masvidal has confirmed that he’s interested in a superfight against Conor McGregor later this year.

When it comes to star power in the Ultimate Fighting Championship, few fighters have quite as much pull as Jorge Masvidal and Conor McGregor. Both men are outspoken, have fun fight styles and can draw in the eyes of millions across the globe.

Of course, McGregor’s status as the biggest star in the history of the UFC means he’s in quite a powerful position with regards to picking who he takes on next in the Octagon.

If it were up to ‘Gamebred’, though, they’d square off before we hit the end of 2022.

“I think November or December, it’s looking good for me, man,” Masvidal said. “Before this guy overdoses on cocaine and the fight never happens then I don’t get to make all that easy money, I just want to break Conor’s face. Let’s get that paycheck, let’s get that out of the way, sell the most pay-per-views ever before this guy does harm to himself or somebody else. And I just like “boom,” get that check real quick cause I got kids, right? I need the f***ing money.

“Then after that, I don’t know,” he continued. “Also, if I can’t get Conor, I’m thinking probably Gilbert [Burns]. Gilbert’s a good fight for me. I like him as a fighter because he comes to fight. He’s gonna submit a guy or knock a guy the f*** out. We’re gonna give the fans a f***ing bloody fight if that goes down. I think everybody will be very happy with that fight so that’s a fight I’d love to make.”

Seeking redemption

After going 0-2 against Kamaru Usman before being handled by Colby Covington, Jorge Masvidal is in desperate need of salvation - and more importantly, a statement victory.

Fans are growing tired of seeing him on the losing end and the same argument can be made for Conor McGregor.

‘Notorious’ isn’t afraid to step in there with the best of the best but in his most recent outings, he’s lost consecutive bouts to rival Dustin Poirier.
