UFC president Dana White has revealed that he thinks Nate Diaz pursuing a boxing match against Jake Paul might be the best route forward for him.

The relationship between the UFC and the Diaz brothers has been strained for a long time now, and that’s especially true for Nate. The Stockton king and former title challenger has been pinpointed as a ‘difficult’ person to deal with and in equal measure, the reverse is also said to be true.

Diaz has one fight left on his current UFC deal and there are many, many fighters out there who would be more than happy to give him the swansong he deserves. Alas, there doesn’t appear to be much movement right now, with both sides blaming one another for being the root of the problem.

Dana White has been answering questions about Diaz for a long time and when queried about the possibility of him boxing Jake Paul in the future, White actually seemed to favour that idea.

“Dealing with Nate is always, you know, fun, exciting, interesting. So we’ll see. I don’t know what we’re gonna do. I don’t know.”

“Listen, we’re trying to do the best we can. We’re trying not to s*** on anybody and disrespect anybody, but you know, it’s not like we’re talking about Kamaru Usman here. We’re talking about Nate Diaz. Nate has won one fight in five years, so, we’re trying to figure this thing out with him. He probably should go on and fight Jake Paul, that’s the fight that makes sense.”

Who could Diaz face?

Within the context of his UFC run, Nate Diaz has taken on some of the biggest and baddest names in the game.

If he’s going to ride off into the sunset then he’ll probably do so against a star, with rising prospect Khamzat Chimaev being floated around as the man to get the call.

If it isn’t ‘Borz’, though, Dustin Poirier could be on the table, alongside a few nostalgic rematches against either Jorge Masvidal or Conor McGregor.

The possibilities are there for all to see, but an announcement still feels a long way away.
