UFC 276: Sean O'Malley has massive plans including Gervonta Davis fight

UFC 269: Raulian Paiva v Sean O'Malley

Exciting UFC Bantamweight fighter Sean O’Malley recently revealed his massive plans in the combat sports world, including a huge crossover fight against boxing star Gervonta Davis.

O’Malley is set to re-enter the octagon as part of UFC 276 where he will be facing Pedro Munhoz in the opening bout of the undercard.

Despite ‘Sugar’ having only had 16 professional MMA contests thus far, he is aiming even higher than just the belt for the 135-pound weight division of UFC.

Here is what Sean O’Malley had to say regarding his plans to become a champ-champ in the UFC between the Bantamweight and Featherweight divisions.

Sean O’Malley on Champ-Champ Status

Speaking to Canal Encarada on YouTube, the 135-pound fighter revealed that he plans on winning the title in the division and then moving up to try and secure Champ-Champ status by winning the Featherweight gold.

He said: “Ideally, if I could pick how it plays out, you know, I’m eventually gonna go up to 45. I think before I do that I have to become the champ bantamweight champion, has to be done.

“I think I will once I’m bantamweight champion I’ll deserve and earn a title shot at 45. I believe I can become double champ.

“Then I do think in the future, you know, Gervonta Davis sounds like a big fight for me. I would love to go over to the boxing world. I know people love it, they hate it.

“They don’t want to talk about it. ‘MMA never beats boxers,’ but I’m in the entertainment business and I believe in my skills and I truly think that in four or five years, if I’m the double champ, or if I’ve been the (bantamweight champion), I’ve been the featherweight champion, and Gervonta Davis is still a superstar, there’s no reason I can’t go over there and perform for the fans in boxing and put his lights out, too, and become the biggest combat sports athlete in the world.”

We’ve seen a few MMA stars make their way over to the sweet science with mixed results, including Anderson Silva, Tyron Woodley and Conor McGregor. Whether O’Malley can be a megastar along those lines remains to be seen, but the charismatic fighter certainly stands a chance.
