Chelsea: 'World-class' £60m star 'could land' at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea are one of few clubs a £60m attacker could actually join this summer, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

Chelsea are one of few clubs Manchester City attacker Raheem Sterling could actually join this summer, says transfer insider Dean Jones.

The Blues are said to be confident about their chances of signing the 27-year-old, and Jones sees them as the only viable destination in England.

What is the latest news involving Sterling?

According to the Manchester Evening News, a decision on Sterling's future could be made before the start of City's pre-season tour.

The England international has just one year to run on his contract and has been heavily linked with a move to Chelsea.

In fact, multiple outlets, including Sky Sports, have claimed that Chelsea are confident that they can get a deal done this summer.

If Sterling does decide he wants to move to Stamford Bridge, City are expected to demand a fee of around £60m from their Premier League rivals.

What has Jones said about Sterling to Chelsea?

Jones thinks Chelsea have a good chance of signing Sterling since a move there would give him the opportunity to return to London.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, the journalist said: "He's from London, so straight away you start to look at the London clubs. He's not going to go to Man United and Liverpool is a door that's also closed, so Tottenham and Chelsea seem two places.

"Tottenham, I can't see at all if I'm totally honest, so Chelsea are one of the few clubs that Raheem Sterling could actually land at."

Which other Premier League club could Sterling join?

As Jones mentioned, with United and Liverpool off the table for various reasons, Tottenham are the only other name you can really throw up.

There is obviously Arsenal, but with The Times claiming that Sterling wants Champions League football, that looks like a non-starter.

His potential transfer fee and wages, though, with the City star currently thought to be earning £300,000 a week, could also make a deal very difficult for Spurs.

Therefore, if Sterling's desire is to remain in England, then staying at City or moving to Chelsea are probably his only two options.

From the Blues' perspective, it is quite clear that they need someone who is going to find the back of the net on a consistent basis after they registered 23 fewer goals than the Premier League champions last season.

Sterling's track record, with the ex-Liverpool player scoring over 150 goals in his career, suggests he could be the man to do that at Stamford Bridge, so you can see why Thomas Tuchel would want him.

Hailed as a "world-class" footballer by Chelsea and England legend Frank Lampard, Sterling could be a really good signing for the former European champions if they can pull it off.
