Mortal Kombat Future Potentially Teased by Johnny Cage Actor

Mortal Kombat Johnny Cage

Andrew Bowen, who plays Johnny Cage in the Mortal Kombat franchise, might be hinting at his appearance in a future Mortal Kombat game.

Many Mortal Kombat 11 fans are impatiently anticipating news on the series’ twelfth instalment, which has been just over three years since Mortal Kombat 11’s release.

Despite NetherRealm Studios‘ declaration that the production cycle for Mortal Kombat 11 would be complete in July of last year, neither Warner Bros. nor NetherRealm Studios have made an official declaration regarding Mortal Kombat 12. However, since last year, speculations have continued regarding the game’s development, and NetherRealm job advertisements have led some to believe the game is already in development.

One of Mortal Kombat’s most prominent actors may have just made his own hints. If Johnny Cage voice actor Andrew Bowen’s deleted Twitter message is any indication, Mortal Kombat 12’s announcement may be right around the horizon.

Will There Be A Mortal Kombat 12?

Following the phenomenal success of Mortal Kombat 11, NetherRealm hasn’t confirmed or denied its ambitions for a new Mortal Kombat game. Injustice games would typically be released between Mortal Kombat instalments, although these aren’t typical dates. Although the asking price for NetherRealm hasn’t been mentioned, Warner Bros. has made hints that it would be open to selling the game.

Johnny Cage voice actor Andrew Bowen shared a video on Monday of himself on the Warner Bros. studio lot, probably hinting at some recording sessions in the near future, to further support the assumption that NetherRealm is working on a new Mortal Kombat game. This tweet was then later deleted. The Mortal Kombat 2 arcade soundtrack was used as the tweet’s background music, as one Twitter user pointed out.

Bowen would make his third consecutive appearance in the Mortal Kombat franchise if he is truly working on the upcoming instalment. Johnny Cage was previously voiced by Bowen in Mortal Kombat X and Mortal Kombat 11. It shouldn’t come as a major surprise if Cage makes another appearance in the newest Mortal Kombat instalment if what he’s hinting at here has anything to do with MK12. Only time will tell if this entire issue really does lead to the announcement of MK12, but as time goes on, it’s beginning to look more and more plausible.

Do you think NetherRealm Studios will be producing Mortal Kombat 12 as their upcoming title? And would you rather Injustice 3 than this game if it were to be released by the studio next? Tell us in the comments section.
