Just days after competing for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship, Riddle’s WWE trajectory continues to rise after making an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. On Friday Night SmackDown Riddle became the first man to challenge Roman Reigns for his Undisputed WWE Universal Championship since Reigns beat Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania. Although he wasn’t successful in defeating the Tribal Chief, Riddle is currently positioned as one of WWE’s biggest baby face stars, especially given the injuries to Cody Rhodes and Riddle’s tag team partner Randy Orton. Following that title match, the 36-year-old’s status as one of WWE’s biggest names has been cemented by an appearance on one of America’s biggest late night chat shows, The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.

In a regular segment entitled Audience Suggestion Box, Riddle was included in a sketch that combined the NHL’s Stanley Cup, the NBA Draft, National Onion Day, and WWE’s upcoming event Money in the Bank next month.

Donning the goalkeeping helmet, the Original Bro took the role as the man between the sticks as NBA draft pick Janlen Williams tried to hit an American style onion ring past Riddle with a hockey stick.

The short skit saw Williams successfully hit the ring through the legs of the former United States Champion at the first attempt, however, there was still time for Riddle to pull off his signature flip-flop spot upon taking his place in goal.

The appearance puts Riddle’s name into the mainstream mix as WWE looks to put a spotlight on someone they see as a future star for the company.

His defeat to Reigns on Friday may mean he can’t challenge for the world title while Roman is still champion, but that hasn’t halted plans for Riddle. He’s set to take on Seth Rollins at SummerSlam in a big marquee match, while his pairing with Randy Orton remains one of the most over acts in all of WWE.Â
